The candidate representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Igabi East Constituency in the Kaduna House of Assembly for the 2019 elections, Salisu D. Bala does not have a single academic qualification, but only submitted forged certificates to contest the polls.

Incumbent member representing Igabi East in the Assembly, Honourable Bello Haruna Maaji also of the APC, who is making the allegations, has dragged the candidate to the Kaduna State High Court to prove his claims.

When the matter for case file no KDH/KAD/1263/2018, came up for hearing on Wednesday January 23, 2019 at Kaduna State High Court 7, the presiding Judge, Justice Lolo J. ordered for service of notice on the defendant.

In an interview with newsmen at his office after the proceeding, Barrister Garba Shehu said that the case borders on making false declaration on Form CO1 that he filed as a candidate.

“The defendant claimed to have schooled in Jaji, but the plaintiff claimed it is untrue.

“Electoral Act provides room for anybody who finds out he has made a false declaration to contest, even after elections, he can be removed,” he said.

When asked if their claims have merit, he said that they have done their part and would leave the rest for the court to decide.

“We will ensure speedy trial of the matter. We would provide our evidences that he did not attend the school as claimed. We have documents to present to the court to reach conclusion,” he said.

Barrister Shehu explained that the case came up for mention on Wednesday, but court was not satisfied with service of the notice on the defendant, Salisu Bala but t court agreed for substituted service at the Igabi Local Government Secretariat, where he is still serving as the Vice Chairman.

“The case was adjourned to February 27 for mention,” he added. Bala who is the incumbent Vice Chairman of Igabi LGA, earned the APC ticket, but the incumbent claims that there was no primary elections in the area, a development that promoted him to protest the validity of certificates tendered
