*...Says, his era has come to an end*

The Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, was on Thursday humiliated by the supporters of Dennis Idahosa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ovia Federal Constituency, Mr Dennis Idahosa.

The tide turned on the Benin High Chief, who had tried to disrupt the campaign train of Idahosa at Usen, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo.

Idahosa is the opponent of Esama's daughter, Ms Omosede Igbinedion, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the February 16 general elections.

It was learnt that the Benin High Chief had quickly mobilised few supporters when he learnt that the campaign team of the APC candidate was visiting Usen.

Igbinedion, father to the former Governor of Edo, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, and his team were at the palace when Idahosa and his supporters arrived Usen.

Though hundreds of Idahosa's supporters he was to address at the market square had awaited his arrival, heavy down pour which started shortly before his (Idahosa) arrival, could not prevent the supporters from according him a rosy welcome.

Idahosa, along with the APC candidate for the Edo South Senatorial District, Mr Patrick Obahiagbon, and the supporters defied the rain by dancing inside the rain for over an hour.

Idahosa and his supporters who locked-down the entire community, held the Esama, guided by heavily armed Soldiers, Police and the DSS, from leaving the community.

It took the team of the Igbinedion and his team over 45 minutes, even with the presence of the security personnels, to find their way through the road leading out of Usen, as Idahosa supporters took over the road with their dance steps.

Jeffrey Osayande, one of Idahosa's, said Esama's insistence on coming to Usen, even when warned against by the clan head, led to his humiliation.

According to him, "Esama wanted to caused problem but the table turned on him. He has refused to understand that the people are no longer with him, that why was when he was told not to come here today, he insisted.

"The Igbinedion's must accept the fact that their era has come to an end, we are building a new generation of leaders, and Idahosa has taken that responsibility to led the generation."
