Representatives of 16 outstanding environmental organizations from 15 countries have just met in Yazd, Iran for the Energy Globe Award ceremony, accompanied by a conference “Sustainable Town and Cities”.

The international ENERGY GLOBE Award distinguishes the best projects in the five categories; earth, fire, water, air and youth.

Solar4GirlsNaija, a programme of BEMORE Empowered Foundation, founded by Wife of Ondo state governor, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu Participated in the Youth Category of the competition and emerged as finalist and received a gold medal.

A BEMORE girl, Tolu Ehinmosan accompanied by Damilola Asaleye of Ashdam solar, BEMORE technical partner in solar technology walked tall.

Reacting to the development, the founder and wife of Ondo state Governor, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu said “the international community has noticed. That’s exciting!”

Solar 4 Girls Naija Summer Programme is a solar summer camp for girls aged 13 to 18.

Its aim is to build confident girls that are going to change the conception of the Nigerian communities about female renewable energy practitioners and bridge the gender gap in this sector.

At the solar camp, girls are involved in team building, entrepreneurial training, energy management training, climate change awareness, understanding green and renewable energy, installation of basic solar electricity, work shop safety, public training and activities for their health.
