Meizu zero is the world’s first phone with no physical buttons, speaker cutout, SIM slot or USB port. So basically, its the world’s first holeless phone. So how does Meizu, the Chinese phone maker go about providing these functions on its device? For increasing/decreasing the volume, the device has been built with a capacitive panel on the sides of the phone. These panels also houses the power on/off buttons. A piezoelectric transducer embedded below the display that is capable of pumping sound through the display via vibrations. As for the missing charging port, Meizu Zero supports only wireless charging of up to 18W output (which makes it the fastest wireless charge). And instead of a SIM slot, this device relies on eSIM technology. Because of all these seemless designs, the Meizu Zero is IP68 water-resistant which means that it can be fully submerged 1.5m for 30mins. Its also reported that Vivo has works with these similar designs and will be announcing theirs at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month.
