Olatokunbo Fagbemi, the newly appointed group managing director of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) was at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, January 30, in a familiarity tour with other newly appointed board/executive members of the company to capital market operators. The introduction was marked with a closing gong ceremony. She intimated operators with the company’s operations and also gave audience to the media. Ade Olulana brings excerpts:

Why did NAHCO decide to adopt a new group structure?

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) became a private company from a public company and listed its shares on the stock exchange. Over the years the company has grown.

In the last five years several subsidiaries were created, such as Main Land Cargo Options, Energy Power and Infrastructure Company, as well as NAHCO Free Trade Zone Company.

So what we have decided is that we need to optimise the benefits that we can get from these companies that we have created since they are wholly owned subsidiaries of our company.

We are re-jigging our company itself, and what we have done in the last six months is to start a journey of creating a five-year transformational growth plan which is being driven by KPMG from 2019 – 2023.

An integral part of this plan is to ensure that we run a group structure so that we can optimise all the resources that we have to grow the company, provide better customer services and ensure that we give better value to the shareholders for the money they have invested.
