This is a short story review of the music JOURNEY by HARRYSONG

In a city void of morals and scruples.

Just like “Maimi” isn’t built up because it is known for it’s tourism and wonderful climates.

Lagos tells it present situation in a young man.
Just like “Miami” would have.
I’m left alone with Scavenger’s because I made that choice.
A choice I was forced to make.
I became a member of the gangsters.

My friend had stolen from them and wasn’t there to pay.
He wanted the money to save his father’s life since they were really poor.
And getting a loan from the bank without a good Collateral was useless.
He had no option since there was also no guarantor to stand for him.

Now his father died before he could be saved.
He then flee with the money.
Putting me in jeopardy.
I who didn’t orchestrate any plan with my dear friend to steal from Scavengers (like they are called) that I detest the most.
I was falsely accused.
And when I insisted.
I was threatened with my dear father and sister.
They told me to pay up.
But the sum is just too large than I can pay.

They didn’t care as I was given an ultimatum.
An ultimatum which is to pay within a period of time or have my dear father murdered and sister raped to death.
I could see from their eyes that their threats weren’t empty.

And then they added the last condition, that I sell some of their stuffs ,which the Nigerian government find illegal, to clubs and most of their valuable consumers who lived at Banana Island.
I wasn’t expecting that.
Never I said to myself and I’ll try pay up.
While curse my friend at heart too.
And wonder how to keep the turbulence away from my family.

An unknown journey of destiny to self discovery was about to begin for me.
My guts about to embark on a serious issue.
And faith to be tested.
Father and sister were oblivious.

How to get the money became an issue .
And stealing a pant wasn’t worth it for me even when I’m pushed to the wall as the day goes by.
Scavenger’s started giving me signs.
I knew, the day my father came back home complaining about how he was almost attacked by mobs.
And my sister almost sexually harrassed by some thugs.
I got the message and pictured it all in my head.
Went ahead to confront them.
It couldn’t help matters but worsen the situation.
Like Black and Blue.
They beat me to a pulp.
Then I surrendered and gave in.

Couldn’t bear it any longer.
They’ve gotten what they wanted the most.
I’ll help distribute their illegals to Banana Island.
And I was told not to rat them out if caught by the authority or else my family pays for my mistake.
Perfectly, I understood them.
Deals has being made.
And the deal is to last till I pay every last penny stolen.
I covered my bruises with a lie when my father asked me what’s up When I got home.
He didn’t believe me.
He knew something was wrong.

He told me to be careful.
And stop getting into trouble.
Then he asked about my friend since he hadn’t seen him since his father’s demise.
I lied again to cover up a secret.

This journey was becoming too much for me.
That was after my first distribution In Banana Island.
And on my next distribution.
I bumped into my destiny with the wrapped illegal package.
She looked packaged and awesome.
Beauty on flick.
Stylish in a way beyond my imagination.
I apologised.
Apology accepted, she replied me.

My heart melt quickly than a candle wax would.
We went separate ways while I was still distracted by her dazzling beauty in my head.
Then I got to my destination. A new address just given to me at Banana Island.
There and then.
Behold, the same lady I was crushing on opened the door.
Couldn’t believe she was a junkie too or not.
Perhaps she is getting it for someone else.
I got in and kept looking on as she paid.
I refused other welcoming services rendered to a visitor but drank only water.
Then I watched her sing word for word, Harry song’s Journey.
It was quite soothing to the soul.

It was my first time listening to the song.
And I loved the messages.
It’s was as if Harry was singing about me.
I’m on a journey of self discovery but my destiny was with her.

where I was that moment.
Then it hit on my head that I was taking too long and had other place to distribute the package to.
As I make moves to leave.
She told me for to turn a new a page as I had listen to the Journey.

What she said meant alot to me.
But if only she knew?
And on a second thought , what junkie advice’s his\her distributor to turn a new page?
Then I left.
Did other necessary things and back to the Scavengers.
Gave them every details and their cash.
Then I was tempted to ask about the lady, which I did.
And I was told to stay far away.
Bad energy.

They knew I was falling for the lady judging from the twinkles in my eyes.
The distribution of illegals which I detest was about to be a pleasurable thing just so I get to see my lady.
It continued.
We got familiar.
And hopefully she wasn’t the junkie.
Her husband was.
She is actually fed up with her marriage.

She has tried as a therapist to save her hubby but it seems “junkism” is in his blood. she opened up to me.
Then I had no choice than to play along as well.
She was shocked.
And then she promised to help pay out the remaining my friend owe.
I didnt expect this.
I asked why she was doing this.

My heart expected an answer of “because she loves me”.
No friend zoning!
But to my greatest disappointment.
For humanity sake, she said.
Prentensiosly, while I felt bad, I said I loved her humanitarianism .
Then she laughs laughs it off cause my mood was quite obvious.

She kissed me and told me to stop when she pays my friends remaining debt.
I promised but then what other excuse do I have to come see her.

She says not to worry as she already has my contact.
Quite Glad!
My destiny was falling into place.

But it could only shatter like about when I told the Scavengers I quit.
And the complete pay given.
Knowing the good I have been able to do their business.

In order to pin me down.
They accused me of stealing.
I denied it and told them the source of the money.
Which I should not have.
My mistake.
This news got to my Lady’s man.

And he requested that I was killed.
Knowing he is one of their greatest buyer.
They wanted to meet his needs.

Although my lady begged him not to even when he accuses her of infidelity but he refuses.
That was the last straw for her.

She presented some divorce documents and called the police on him for having illegals.

And I found a safe harbor for my family thanks to my Lady.
And the Scavengers.
They left me in peace after knowing some secrets of theirs that could dismantle them forever.

So it was a fifty fifty thing.
And on the day of my wedding with my Lady.
At the altar.

The priest asked who wasn’t in support .
There was a hand raised .
That of my friend.
It’s about time the idiot showed up.
He caused my destiny to happen after a Journey.
HarrySong was right after all.

Never give up.
