While I support sanitising that environment, because too much junks from abroad in that area, but everywhere in Lagos is terrible in terms of refuse dumping. Lawma services are overwhelmed and the so called PSP are no where to be found. Lagos is very dirty. Drive through everywhere, everywhere is littered.

This was one area where ambode and fashola really tried. But now, seems sanwolu government doesn't really care much. If not, they would have sanctioned all those psp owners that fail to function well.
And If state government cannot handle that, they should channel it to the local government. Let them take control of that. Lagos stinks and smells for now, don't let us lie to ourselves.

Or rather the government need to on-board new psp operators.

Let the government purchase the trucks and hand it over to private operator on a hire purchase agreement. This way, they are creating employment and also solving the waste disposal problem.

This is a win win situation, government will recoup her money through the hire purchase agreement and might be able to buy money trucks as the scheme grows.

This is the only way to industrialize Nigeria, the government needs to seize the opportunity to galvanize the elites especially those who looted the nation's economy by giving them corruption amnesty for them to fund critical sectors that will boost the nation's economy and increase revenue for the investors and the government.
We need Investment in cargo and human train station lines transversing the length and breadth of Nigeria, connecting Nigeria to all it's neighbouring countries. Investment in industries that will embrance value addition of Local agricultural produce maint for Nigeria and west African states consumption.
Investment in car manufacting targeting conquering West Africa.

I had exact same thought today while listening to dangote on TVC. It will be a sight to behold of all the big money guys whether stolen or not could pull these fund out to build critical sectors of the economy rather than storing them in foreign bank making money for the foreign countries or septic tanks where it is rotting away.

It’s a bad idea to put in place fiscal structures that encourage trade deficit. That is what this policy will do. When everyone becomes mini importers , dollar rate will increase and so will everything else. We have been through this path before.
What your demand and supply argument will do is to increase price of dollar based on increasing demand. The reverse will never ever occur ( less demand for dollar). Your guess is as good as mine to what becomes of the price of most goods when this happens.

According to report, we currently have trade surplus meaning people are importing less compared to when the dollar was pegged and naira card blocked. And this is largely due to the weakened purchasing power of the naira and not because the naira card was blocked. Aslo, are you going to import into a country with a weak purchasing power?

What I believe would happen is there would be more flow of dollar through the banking system rather than the informal process.

There is a peg of how much dollar can be spent quarterly and I believe that is some level of protection for the naira.

People are hedging against the dollar in the black market, people hoarding the dollar to sell at a higher rate because they know there is demand. This policy will take away that power.

Again, the CBN is not going to be defending the naira with the Reserve so how will the reserve be depleted. Inflow of dollar from customers will form the basis to which the banks will sell. Pure demand and supply.

I was at a bank last week and i can count the number of people that came in to make dollar deposit.

Firstly, your first 2 questions are a big yes. The best in a long time. Seeing the children of the poor having the opportunity to school under the loan scheme is a big relief. Mind you, university education is still highly subsidised. Again, Nigeria has gone past the era of fuel scarcity, queuing endlessly at fueling station to get fuel. Atleast give kudos where it is deserved.

Electricity is special in Nigeria, it was way terrible before now. We have seen improvement so give credit. It is not perfect but compared to where we are coming from, it is way better.

We are suff-ering in Nigeria no doubt about that. However, this suff-ering didn't start today it started way in the 70s or before. Seeing someone trying to undo the shackle of agelong which will definitely come with modern pain trust me I will support it. No pain, no again.

We were blind sighted not to allow Jonathan make these painful reforms, not again.

As for dollar, I laugh 😃. why? Because I was personally affected yet I know its for the right cause. Believe me when I tell you people were robbing the country millions of dollars on weekly basis.
