Preaching is done through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who is all wise. You don't use paracetamol to medicate high blood pressure. God didn't visit the Israelites in Egypt promising them the gift of longlife. No. What they needed at that point was deliverance! Vengeance and restoration.

The church can only teach. But it is members who choose to follow the teaching or not. The church is not a central station, server or program issuing out commands to mindless drones. The Church can't get in the way of your will. Even God cannot do it. Church can't change people. People change themselves. By the way, you do not use 1 to generalize all.
