Dear propagandists, you don't call an ongoing project abandoned. GEJ did not abandon anything. They were all his ideas.

Let buhari start a revolutionary project for his successors to complete. He has started nothing. I bet he will never start anything.
He has a different agenda.

APC is planning to test-run and commission less than 70km (Iju-Abeokuta) of the 156.8km Lagos-Ibadan project.

The project is not anywhere close to 70% completion, it's not just entering Lagos. No station has been constructed, no overhead/pedestrian bridge at previous level crossing.

Agege end of Lagos is about to witness shutdown, Fagba, Agege and Ashade level crossing will be blocked as soon as the project reach those places and the Pen cinema bridge that could have serve as option is moving at snail speed.

Whats your take? Lets have your say..

See more recent photos of Lagos-Ibadan Railway here

https://www.autoreportng.com/2019/02/fact-check-who-started-lagos-ibadan.html

You used vanguard, Thisday, leadership and Daily trust newspaper as the sources of your information yet NO SINGLE LINK ON HOW TO SEE THIS NEWS FROM THOSE SOURCES, the only link you gave was from All African News (which look more like a blog than a reliable news paper), even in it, it was quoted the project suppose to commence in 2012 and completed in 2015 (36 months), yet NOTHING was done within the timeframe. If this story has anything to ponder on, I think it futher emphasised the level of corruption perpetrated under the last administration (ghost project). And for you, I think It's better you restrict yourself on the apolitical aspect of your auto interest/business rather than trying to put it into worthless political news from that jungle. Just an advice though.

We're here debating APC vs PDP, when they are all the same set of greedy carpet-crossing politheifcians. This need not cost as much as it has, or taken as much time, with substandard throwaway coaches from early 1990s.

The question is not who started it,but who finished it.Remember in a relay race it's not the matter of who started the first leg,but who finished it.

So, let us get this straight, the best way to get credit is to initiate, award contract, loot the funds and abandon the project, then show up later when it's completed by other people to say it is your project because you initiated the project.

If I am to deceive people, have you taken time to go through all the sources I quote? All the dailies can't be wrong at the same time I guess?

You got it totally wrong- what the pdp/gej administration awarded, was consultancy works which includes the design and drawing for the rail line and other auxiliary functions for expansion or links to other routes for the whole federation - the consultancy was so expensive, the cost of the consultancy was enough to serve as nigeria's counterpart funding for the project itself - we were only gifted with the 3d images, of the consultancy works in 2012 - the light rail project in abuja was to serve as a pilot scheme an example of what ccecc could do in the rail sector and that's why they never finished it- the rot in the administration of nigeria, they were actually preying on nigeria- it would also be foolish for any administration to see a good actually fantastic one of the best rail consultancy works, which detailed the best areas topographic shortest distances possible interior opening and throw it under the bus- because it was done by another administration

If PDP wins, they will cancel the contract, terminate work, spend 2-3 years on fighting on who would or should get what on the project.

You guys can straighten crayfish with your twists to issues.
Buhari commenced a projected on the drawing board for years and you are saying credits should be given to the person that signed the contract but did nothing.

In one breath you say Yar Adua cancelled the contracted signed by Obasanjo (even though it's the same party), and in another you said government is a continuum and it is a must that Buhari must continue with a project signed by Jonathan (even though they are in different parties). What happens if Buhari also cancelled the project?

Nigeria has tons of signed and abandoned projects scattered all over the country, are you insinuating that we should not give credit to future governments that decide to commence or complete abandoned projects?

In that case, we should remove Buhari's name from the Lagos-Calabar (Port Harcourt-Calabar) rail which they claimed they have paid counterpart funds for but which work has not commenced till now, when the project eventually takes off and completed, right? As you can see, that project was signed with the Lagos-Ibadan one.

You don't have understanding. It is doubtful if you will see a single person in Nigeria who is not happy about Buhari continuing projects that he met instead of cancelling them like he did the Lagos Metroline initiated by Alhaji Jakande in the 1980s. If you see anyone who is not happy about this project, he or she must be on to something else.

Buhari's history about cancelling, stalling, abandoning projects is legendary, therefore, well meaning people should actually commend him for continuing some of these ones at this time.

The issue is you his worshippers trying to diminish other people's efforts in the same projects. It is something to try and worship your god for what you think he is doing for you, it is another thing to falsely ascribe to him or lump other people efforts with his magnanimity towards you without due credit.

President Obasanjo actually initiated the project. He signed a mou with the Chinese but Yar’adua cancelled the deal. Jonathan subsequently signed another agreement with the Chinese but refused to pay the necessary counterpart funds to enable the commencement of the project. The Buhari administration paid the counterpart funds fully and started the project.

GEJ refused to pay? Do you know how silly that sounds...? He refused?

Obasanjo, Jonathan, and Buhari all deserve credit for the project.

Buhari deserve even more credit for having the balls to implement and ensure the project is completed.

We know how to initiate good policies but implementation has been our biggest problem in this country and now that Buhari promised and deliver the project, the opposition wants to take the shine away from current government.

I guess the PDP are pained because this project completion will definitely win many votes for the APC hence their trying to lay claim on the project.
Fixed match[/quo
Just as the popular saying goes, "The Internet never forgets". At a time when we are a cross-road and when we are in between truth and fallacy, it is expedient we dig out some truth and we separate the wheat from the chaff.

The Lagos-Ibadan Railway project has been a subject among the APC and PDP loyalists. While PDP insists that the project was started, designed and awarded by the PDP government, APC seems to have another side of the story. APC insists that the project was started, executed and designed by the Buhari-led administration and this has been a tussle of discussion in the social media and in the dailies as well.

AutoReportNG has been following the Lagos-Ibadan Railway since its inception and now it has reached its 70% conclusion stage, we can say, we are at liberty to cross-check and have a say on this interesting topic.

To those in the political scene, they will remember that the minister of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi has been working tirelessly virtually on a regular basis, he will come to inspect the railway and ask the contractors how they are faring and the challenges they encounter. The APC has guided this project as its baby and so they won't want any stain to rubbish it.

A close check into this shows that the project was awarded 28th August 2012 during the former President Jonathan led administration.

We will quote some dailies that reports about this signing for a clear view.

Abuja — FEDERAL Government, yesterday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding of $ 1.5billion Lagos - Ibadan rail project with Messrs CCECC Nigeria Limited.

The Federal Executive Council had on July 2012 approved Lagos - Ibadan Standard Gauge Track on double formation, covering a distance of 156.65km, totaling 313.30km double track in favour of the company, in the sum of US$1, 487, 782, 196.00, all taxes inclusive.

ThisDay

The Federal Government yesterday disclosed that it had signed a $1.49 billion contract with China for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail Double Track.

The rail line with Double Formation under Addendum No. 2 (2nd segment) is for the modernisation of the Lagos-Kano railway project.

It also approved other contracts covering the transport, power and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Briefing journalists in company of his colleagues after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, Transport, Idris Umar, Power, Bart Nnaji, and Urban and Housing Development, Ama Pepple, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, said council approved contracts including the implementation of Addendum No. 2 (2nd segment: Lagos-Ibadan to the main contract for the railway modernisation project (Phase 1; Lagos-Kano).

Messrs China Civil Engineering Construction Company Nig Ltd which clinched the job, is expected to complete the project in 36 months.
The variation of the scope of work for the contract for design and construction of Abuja Rail Mass Transit Project (Lots 1&3) from the initial work span of 60.67km to 45.245km (Lots 1A &3) upped the amount payable from $841,645,898.00 to $823,540,545.87 payable at the prevailing exchange rate inclusive of 5 per cent VAT and 5 per cent variation on prices.

“The contract is in favour of Messrs China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation (CCECC), with a completion period of 36 months”, Maku said.

Nigeria: Railway Modernisation - FG Signs Contract Agreement With Chinese Company

As part of the Federal Government commitments to transform the railway sub-sector, it has signed a contract agreement with CCECC Nigeria for the construction of the Lagos to Ibadan double track.

The Minister of Transport Senator Idris Umar hinted that the Addendum No. 2:Lagos to Ibadan Double track is a double formation to the main contact for the modernisation phase 1 project even as he recalled that on the 18th July 2012, the Federal Executive Council approved in favour of Messrs CCECC Nigeria Limited the sum of $1,487,782,196.00.

Nigeria Signs U.S.$1.49 Billion Railway Deal With China

The Federal Government yesterday said it had signed a $1.49 billion contract with China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) to build a railway between Lagos and Ibadan.

The contract has a completion period of 36 months

For more, you can check on this link AllAfrica News

From all these articles, it can be said that the government of Pres. Jonathan initiated and signed the Lagos-Ibadan Railway Project which was meant to last for 3 years. According to the contract, the project is meant to start in 2012 and end in 2015 but due to how the government works, the APC led government inherited it and started work.

While credit must be given to both PDP and APC for this project: PDP for having the mind to think of connecting 3 states together using railway and thereby making the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway free of traffic and signing the contract with CCECC and APC led government for making sure they finish up what the PDP government started.

We hope this analysis will end the argument of whether the Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project was either APC or PDP. No matter which party started it, Nigeria comes first.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

These are some of the constructions across the 3 states

The consultancy work for all the major roads in nigeria was done by GEJ and they served us 3d images of all the roads- including airports, some consultancy were even more expensive then the cost of executing the contracts itself - lagos-ibadan express way by bicourtney, 2nd niger bridge is another example of the consultancy works done, and 3d images were sold to nigerians - and that is why they never started these projects - this administration has started it based on the consultancy works - why do you think most of us, that knew what was happening wanted that administration out?
