A chieftain of the PDP, Abubakar Sidi, says leaders in the former ruling party have abandoned the vision of the founding fathers of the party

- Sidi notes that those who suffered for the PDP have been sidelined while new entrants have hijacked the party

- The PDP chieftain says the Buhari administration has done well to greatly improve the security situation in Nigeria

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Sidi, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, noting that leaders in the opposition have abandoned the vision of the founding fathers of the party.

Sidi who once served as a former FCT campaign coordinator for Goodluck/Sambo 2015 campaign, said those who suffered for the PDP have been sidelined, while new entrants have hijacked the party, Daily Trust reports.

He said the Buhari administration had done well to greatly improve the security situation in Nigeria, noting that since the APC came to power in 2015 the level of poverty, ethnic, religious and tribal divisions in the country had reduced significantly.

The politician expressed the hope that the next four years will be prosperous for the APC as it emerges victorious in the general election.

Meanwhile, as Nigerians prepare for the 2019 general elections, the vice presidential candidate of Grassroots Democratic Party of Nigeria (GDPN), Alhaji Ibrahim Modibbo, has dumped the party's presidential candidate and GDPN for President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Leadership reports that Modibbo declared his support for Buhari and the ruling party in Abuja on Tuesday, February 12.

Legit.ng gathers that the vice presidential candidate said his reason for supporting Buhari was because of the president's performance since taking over mantle of leadership in 2015
