I am an anonymous writer for some media outfits in Edo State and some other parts of the nation. In this post, some names and images will be left unsaid so as not to increase the already tensed situation in the state.

It is no news as regards the intense, life claiming battle between rival cult groups in Benin City. This war has been budding since October last year, where so many lives were lost before the Police stepped in and cracked on the 'low cadre' members of these cult groups.

However, as at 2 weeks ago, there were rumours of war between the Aiye and Vikings cult groups around Evboriaria Community in Sapele Road, which prompted some of these cultists to run for their lives by transiting to other parts of Benin.

This was the news until about 4 days ago when young boys, most of whom are in their teenage age stormed several parts of Benin City among whom areas like 2nd East Circular, 1st East Circular, 3rd East Circular, Sokponba and Upper Sokponba Streeta and roads (Aifuwa, Eweka, Ewere, Ehigiator, Goretti, St. Saviour) etc, were badly affected.
As at Monday this week, residents of these areas were robbed, beaten and harrassed. Down to yesday, aside from the killing that have claimed over 15 lives as at this morning, gun shots were heard sporadically, which made innocent residents and even the said cultists scamper for safety. This situation was later tamed, thanks to the Nigerian Police force, Edo State command. Although they came late but their overwhelming presence measured by their number was encouraging and thus made the residents close their eyes in peace.

As at this afternoon, reports reaching me and my team is that, the cult group whose members have been tremendously killed, are set for imminent revenge to occur soon and this will be made possible as they are set to recuit members from higher institutions in The state, i.e, Auchi Polytechnic and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, to join in this fight.

To this end, I appeal to every resident of these areas to please be at home latest, 7pm and visitors in Benin or those planning to visit are to be careful. Don't travel late to Benin, avoid doing business anything later than 7pm. The Police should please, make men available to protect the residents of these areas, while they crack down on these guys.
