Orisun - Iye Community in Oke Aro, Akure, the Ondo State capital was agog on Wednesday as Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, visited the area to inspect the ongoing construction of culvert.

The community had sent a letter to the Governor two weeks ago, seeking the help of the Government to construct a solid culvert to save residents of the community from the danger of the wooden culvert which has been in use for long.

Moved by the pictures of wooden culvert attached to the letter, the Governor directed the state Ministry of works and Infrastructure to visit the community and commence work on the culvert immediately.

The governor was welcome into the community admist pomp and peagantry as the people sang various songs of appreciation to show their joy over the construction of the culvert.

One of the residents, Evangelist Asagunla explained that the community had written letters to successive governments without any productive response.

He said the community was surprised to see men of the ministry of works and Infrastructure commencing work on the culvert few days after a letter was sent to the governor.

The residents of the community appreciated the Governor for being proactive to the plight of the people.

Governor Akeredolu assured the people of his administration's commitment to ensuring development across the state.

The governor used the visit to solicit support for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in this Saturday's General elections.

The culvert is 20 meters downstream, 20 meters up stream and 10 meters cover.
