The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State (AE-FUNAI), Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba enjoined all the newly admitted students of the institution to brace up and face their studies.
Declaring the student orientation open, the Vice-Chancellor represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Sunday Elom reminded the freshmen that the university is noted for its seriousness both in character and learning.
He mentioned that the university thrives heavily on Excellence, Integrity and Entrepreneurship. Noting that the university though, young, had excelled in many areas of endeavor. He charged them to be committed in their studies and shun bad character that may truncate their studentship but engage fruitfully in all the skill acquisition programmes available to them in order to complement their academics and make them employers of labour rather than seekers of job where there is none.
Prof. Elom charged the students to shun cultism and get focused on their education. ‘Make sure you play your part to justify the trust reposed on you by your parents through their investment on you and avoid frivolous activities’.
He maintained that once the students remain tilted to their studies, they would surely graduate at the expected time.

On her part, the Registrar of the institution, Okeke C. Odisa (Mrs.), told the students to be wary of their freedom. She maintained that their freedom is encapsulated with responsibility. She inferred that now is the opportunity to invest their time properly so as to reap its fruits in future.
“Don’t join bad association. There are good and religious associations that can shape your life in consonance with the expectation of the society”.
‘Ladies, don’t entice our lecturers. Dress well and cover your bodies and contours to avoid crying foul. It is only the unserious students that approach lecturers to induce marks. A serious- minded student always face his/her studies properly ahead of examination’.
The Registrar charged the students to ensure they clear themselves with the Registry unit noting that every activity of each student, begins and ends with Registry.

The university Bursar, Alhaji R. k. Aliu, who was represented by Mr. Achine Ojang, enjoined the students to pay up their fees stipulated by the institution ahead of their matriculation as this is the only key towards collecting registration number and serves eligibility factor.
Also, the university Librarian, Dr. O. O. Adediji, who was represented by Dr. Igwe Chinonso, stated that the library is open 24hours for the students to make consultations and advance in the course of their studies but warned that preservation and careful usage is the watch ward of the unit.
The orientation covered a whole range of issues bordering from students successful and productive stay on campus, relationship with the host community, to need for counseling and ICT management among others.
The Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Otu, Otu Akanu in his closing remarks, advised the students to behave well and set a pace for themselves as to determine their final grade from inception.
