The Nigerian Gospel Music scene is an active content creating industry. Every passing minute, new songs are released by young artistes seeking to make a break into the industry or by popular artistes whose fans hunger for new music. This is one reason why we decided to start the Believers Companion Top 10 Gospel Songs for each month. We also have a countdown for the Year. Click here to check the Top songs for the Year 2019.

In January 2019, Nathaniel Bassey's song, Awamaridi, Afy Douglas's Saviour, Dunsin Oyekan Imole De, Nathaniel Bassey Strong Tower, and Victoria Orenze Olorun Agbaye claimed the Top 5 spot as we kick-start the Top 10 Gospel songs for the Year 2019.

The list was said to have been dominated by top artiste in the Nigerian Gospel Music Industry. However, in the February list, a great deal of new artiste forced their way into the Top 10 Gospel Songs for the month.

This month, the top 10 songs is made up of street slangs turn positive vibes, powerful song of worship, dance able talking drum inspired prophetic songs and songs of praises. If you are ready, come with me as we take a look at the Top 10 songs released in February 2019.

10. Babz Carpenterz - Oluwa Dide
Oluwa Dide is worth all the attention. The song, Oluwa Dide which means God Arise is a 5 minutes worship song. It's lyrics is loaded with words of prayers, it is a sweet call unto God.

9. Tosin Martins ft Kenny Blaq - Oro Oluwa
Multi-talented Nigerian Comedian, Kenny Blaq and Tosin Martins collaborated for this melodious tune and we can't get enough of it. Oro Oluwa which means The Word of God is a prophetic declaration. As you groove to the sound of talking drums, you sing words of prophecies. Personally, I love this song.

8. Lily Perez - Turning On In Own
It started as a joke but received so much love. Lily Perez has creatively taken the street slang ‘Turning on in Own‘ #Turninoniown to church. With a positive twist to it. The love the song have experienced has brought her this far.

7. Toluwanimee - The Reason
Toluwanimee worship album, Go Deeper will definitely become fans favorite. A Reason is a single off the album. This song is more than a worship song, It is a love song. It helps listeners let go in reckless abandonment before God and vocalize the expressions that break the barrier of idolization (yet filled with awe of the Supreme One), so that one can meet with God on a love-relationship basis.

6. Frank Edwards - Happiness
Multi-talented gospel artiste, Frank Edward who is a singer, songwriter, producer and sound instrumentalist come through with a brand new sound that will make 2019 a joyful year for us all. The new song by Frank Edward is titled “Happiness” and on this record, Frank Edward implores everyone to also praise the Lord and do David’s dance to dance away sorrow and receive Blessings, Grace, and Favour.

American gospel musician, Jesse Morgan sings the cover of Nathaniel Bassey's song, Imela and we love it!

4. Mike Abdul - Different Case
Spaghetti Record’s head honcho, Mike Abdul kicks off the new year with the release of the single titled Different Case. The steady rhythmic song is a blend of Eastern Highlife and Afrocentric Pop tune. The song is a dance able yet stirring up faith. Strengthen your faith with this one daily.

3. Nwando Omosebi - Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Nwando Omosebi, Glowreeyah Braimah, Ighiwiyisi Jacobs, TY Bello, and George worship together in a room and it was everything you can think of. The song is titled Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. This song will definitely stir you up to worship, pray, and to worship like never before.

2. Mercy Idegwu - Iyanu
The song, Iyanu, a title which finds its root in Yoruba (a language largely spoken in the Western part of Nigeria), can be translated to English as “Wonder”, “Amazing” but within the context of the song “Miracle Worker” is a sweet worship and dance vibe, that pays homage to the mighty power of God, accompanied with a sing-along lyrics and references to the miraculous in our lives everyday.

1. Mercy Chinwo - Power Belongs To Jesus
If you think Excess Love is the best she can deliver, then you need to forgive yourself because this girl is just getting started. With the release of this song, Mercy Chinwo proved that she can switch styles and still make a whole lot of sense. The song, All Power Belongs To Jesus is a contemporary dance hall tune released in the spirit of love and pure expression of gratitude for the power of God at work in us.
