It is now glaring that PDP is no longer a formidable opposition to APC. Though last Saturday presidential election was marred with irregularities and violence, the infractions were not substantial enough to invalidate PMB's victory.

I did not vote for PMB because he disappointed me with his loop-sided war against corruption and his lack of respect for federal character and merit in his appointments. But we have to move on and give him our prayers and support.

Buhari should by now realised that it is not the elites, Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi or Oshimole that made his victory possible. The people who gave him victory are his numerous cult followers mostly from the northern part of the country. Majority of his followers belongs to the subset of exteremily poor Nigerians who are surviving on less than one dollar a day.

These poor and resilient Nigerians don't care about UN statistics of human suffering index. They know over the years that selfish politicians have been squandering their common wealth. Unfortunately, to them Atiku belongs to the unholy group of rich men they resent. They would rather endure suffering and hunger than vote for Atiku. These are Buhari foot soldiers. They loved Buhari with passion and are ready to die for him because to them Buhari is an epitome of integrity and hope.

It will be tragic if Buhari fails these common Nigerians at the altar of political expediency. Buhari should do away with the so called cabal and APC National leaders. He should run an all inclusive government with respect for merit and federal character. He should not allow the cabal or Tinubu and Co to determine who to bring into his cabinet or how to run his government.

He should go after all looters of our common wealth, irrespective of their party affiliations. His major task is to unified he country and calm fray nerves. He should get our economy working again by providing infrastructures and enabling environment for small businesses.

But my major fear is that the greatest opposition to PMB will be from the selfish and corrupt APC politicians and cabals that are hovering over him. If care is not taken, the National Assembly may be the Achilles heels of the Next level.

Will PMB have the stamina and boldness to make himself a democrat and a statesman? Time will tell.
