This senate will be less productive because it’s filled with power mongers, lot of senators serving lifetime, former governors who in one way or the other are power and influence thirsty, less freshmen, I foresee a power tussle, pride and seniority will takeover, there will be a gangup against one of the major contenders, the PDP will play the role of “you’ll need us”. Interesting times ahead

Several of them are Governors who did nothing noteworthy at the state level. Nigeria looks DOOMED for a long time.

Scarp the Senate, it is a collosal waste of public funds.
Let our "Lawmakers" meet by TELE-CONFERENCING whenever they have a lawful debate to make, then meet together in a public space for two days, to finalize any signing into Act.

We dont need to be spending all these Billions of naira, just to have people come and snore or pad budget or just dont appear at all, for a job that pays as much as #35Million per person every month.

Money that could be properly deployed to education, health, Roads, Refineries, Housing, Power, etc.

Thanks bud, the National Assembly gulps over 100 billion naira yearly, as you stated, it’s a colossal waste of funds that should be diverted into the welfare of the poor masses. In the country where I live, it’s not a salaried full-time job like in Nigeria, all parliamentarians still retain the jobs/businesses they had prior to being elected and only get “sitting” and “accommodation” allowances whenever they converge to deliberate in any issue. And there’s only one House of Parliament. If Nigeria can scale down to only one House of Parliament and downgrade all their activities to part time, allowance based sittings, the attraction for those positions will diminish. Imagine spending over 300 billion naira on elections and over 100 billion budget yearly for the National Assembly alone, then those elected/selected will steal over 500 billion within their tenure in office. And meanwhile, the masses continues to wallow in abject poverty. It’s a sorry state. Why do we need two Houses of Parliament, deputy ministers,etc. Why should senators get 13.5 million naira monthly salary?, excluding allowances. Nigeria democracy needs total overhaul.

Daddy Dino Melaye.. If you ever meet senator Ali Ndume in real life you won't believe how cool that man is and he speaks very well.

In the election to the senate that just past in which Senator Manager defeated his main rival and ex-governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Senator Manager made Dr Udughan to shed tears and cry foul.
