A former militant leader in the Niger Delta region, Ateke Tom has asked the police to arrest and expose those behind the killing of his colleague, Soboma George.



George, an ex-militant leader, was shot dead in Borikiri Area of Port Harcourt by men suspected to be members of a cult group.



Tom, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent, on Monday, said it would be dangerous for those who killed George to go scot-free.



The former leader of the defunct Niger Delta Vigilante Movement explained that apprehending George’s killers was necessary in order to serve as deterrent to others who were still planning to cause confusion in the state.



According to him, failure to arrest the culprits may send a wrong signal and jeopardise the relative peace being enjoyed in the Niger Delta region.



He maintained that though, the police were trying their best in ensuring that the culprits were arrested and brought to book, it was necessary for them to intensify their effort to achieve results.



“The police must continue to search for them (George’s killers) and this is the only way they can stop others from involving themselves in the kind of act.



“I am advising the police to look into this matter and make sure that those behind the killing of Soboma George are arrested,” he said.
