MrAJQ: The economy is on autopilot. A confused and hypocritical government can have no direction whatsoever. I will advise buahri to form a unity govt with Atiku. His crew know much better about the economy that buahris obviously lacks. It will also save us sm headache/scandal of a tribunal. 2 Likes |

Silly report. It is clear that prudence, import substitution by way local production are the government's thrust. You can't say a country that has kept it's currency stable for 3 years whilst increasing its foreign reserve is directionless. You cannot say that in addition, ramping up of infrastructural development whilst tightening avenues for leakage is directionless. By the way, a major foreign outlet, I'm talking to you The Economist , gave it's prediction on another matter quite recently. How did that go? I'm sure FT must have written hogwash about China in the 80s. 5 Likes |

That's true. But then which Nigerian government has ever run purposeful and focused government since 1999 anyway? How many of the Nigerian Institutions have been strengthened by the government? APC is only slightly better than the PDP. The difference being that the Nigerian purse is only being slowly drained in trickles during rhw APC govt while the PDP takes shovels to the treasury. Otherwise, it's still the same cluelessness that pervades governing circles in Nigeria. 3 Likes |

jaxxy: No, that won't be necessary. We need to discover new talents. Nigeria has educated and enlightened people everywhere in the world. Obasanjo and Jonathan discovered many Nigerian technocrats. I've yet to see Buhari discover any...i have yet to see any outstanding government appointee. And the call by Aisha Buhari to APC to give only card-carrying members of the party appointment is something I find very embarrassing. 3 Likes 1 Share |

FT, you on a long thing. Rationality has been thrown out the window in the country as the recent election shows the number of sound people are few and far between compared to the hoard of zombies. The slight majority appear okay with the Fela classic "Shuffering and Shmiling". Check back in four years. 2 Likes |

“Mr Buhari’s priority this time must be to set out a coherent agenda, implemented by technocrats rather than ideologues, to turn things around. Nigeria desperately needs to create a level playing field for business in which access to foreign currency, permits, and other requirements is both predictable and rational." This says it all... Dull people too full buhari's cabinet... No single technocrats amongst his ministers 1 Like |

We have been saying this for years. Small minded and shallow policies that dwell more on body language than long term and sustainable policies will only sink the nation. Buhari is not fit to be a college principal. But he became President anyways since majority of his followers don't know what it takes to be a college principal. 2 Likes |
