Autojosh was in Asaba, the Delta state capital, recently.

While there, we were pleasantly surprised to see some Innoson high capacity buses being deployed for the Intra-state and city transportation in and around Delta State.

This revelation was particularly impressive given that the Delta state government was not paying lip services to the campaign for the patronage of indigenous manufacturing brands.

From our investigations, we learnt that over 30 Innoson high capacity buses are part of a fleet of nearly 1,000 modern buses operated by the Delta State Mass Transport Programme and its Private Public Partners.

Note that the Anambra state Governor, Wilie Obiano, came under heavy backlash on social media during his re-election campaign when he acquired 2 Innoson buses for his campaign.

Some of the critics accused the governor of patronizing foreign brands to the detriment of the local ones, saying he only rushed and bought two Innoson buses after he was criticized.

The high capacity Innoson mass transit buses used for mass transit in Delta state were acquired during the administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

what truth are you talking about? It might not be the very best you hoped for,but its something to start with...back in the day,a lot of students travelling warri to abraka used that kinda bus and it was good,they also lasted for along time..during my service year in anambra,virtually all secondary schools had one innoson 18 setter bus at their disposal..ministers in the state use innoson hilux too,so maybe when you give us your reason,we will understand but until then..

whenever you have the opportunity to visit asaba or you have friends staying there ask them..that spot is a bus stop, every morning, when you go there you will see @ least 2-3 of that buses loading,also at unizik junction, temp site..you see them lined up conveying people from awka to Onitsha at a very cheap rate..

It only makes common sense that the Nigerian government leads by example.

If I were to be in charge of the central government, I would make sure all the vehicles used by every single govt office, ministry, agency, parastatal etc must be made in Nigeria or at least assembled in Nigeria. When there's a policy forcing govt offices to patronise only locally produced or assembled vehicles, there would be a mad rush by businessmen and investors to start investing their idle funds in this sector. Companies like PAN would be yanked back to life and every govt official would be forced to use PAN or innoson vehicles as much as they can meet the demand.

Policies like this would force large auto makers like Toyota, Nissan, Honda etc to also set up at least assembly lines in Nigeria. These are the sort of policies counties like China embraced in the 90's and look where they are today; China even went to the extent of strictly restricting the Hollywood movies thwy allow to air in their cinemas.

But do our leaders really give a damn?... If you check well, even Anambra govt may not be buying IVM.

Ur head get oil. Sometimes i wonder if the people in government don't think along this line or what. These are basic laws that needs to be in our constitution to stimulate growth.

What's your problem? Maybe because you're in far away west you think nobody uses their cars. Many government officials and individuals (businesses included) in the East and South South use their vehicles(trucks, buses, SUV)... If it's not legit, nobody would use it.

Tribalism.So this is just a news to you and your folks on Nairaland. Delta state has been using these buses as far back as 2014 that I can remember. I was transported by this same type of IVF buses from Sapele to Warri on several occasions.

Point of correction , Innoson does not manufacture any vehicle, they only assemble. I have been there . Ordinary keke that he assembly is a total failure. Even in Anambra State no one uses the tricycle everyone goes for TVs or bajaja. Go to nnewi and verify.

A successful assembly of a road vehicle complete with Engine, tires and seats "No legit"
It has transmission, brakes, electrical system and interior.
Some people take simple things like a wine opener for granted because they have never thought of how stuff works or how they are made.
An inferior mobile phone is a successful work of engineering principles and must be commended in its class.
Innoson has done pretty well in Nigeria, just for assembly of these vehicles. I hope that our government will encourage industries that can make machines that build mother machines in Nigeria, That is the backbone of an industrial revolution in our country.

I still don't understand how Lagos buys so many trans vehicle and don't think it wise to patronise made in Nigeria yet it wants Nigeria to grow. This has nothing to do with tribe, it's common sense.
