The Chief Security Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Mr. Ani Esin has been kidnapped.

He was abducted in his house on Tuesday by 3am and beaten to a pulp by suspected Kidnappers who carried assorted guns.

DAILY POST quoted an eyewitness who gave his name as Etim as alleging that the action may not be unconnected with recent political events in the State.

“Though the action is regrettable, it may not be unconnected with recent developments in the State,” he stated.

DAILY POST gathered that Mr. Esin was one-time Chairman of Bakassi LGA in the State

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ms. Irene Ugbo confirmed the kidnap.

She said the incident occurred in his house in Calabar by 3am on Tuesday. He has been rescued and he is receiving treatment at an undisclosed health institution.

“When the Police was informed about the incident, the Commissioner of Police and other Police officers went into action and rescued the victim.

“The driver that was driving the victim had an accident on the way and died on the spot. we have rescued the victim.

“The Police under the present administration is working hard to protect citizens and property” she stated.
