INEC To Allow Atiku, PDP Inspect Material After Receiving Court Order by Nobody: 6:51pm On Mar 17, 2019
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that it refused the main opposition PDP access to inspect election materials

- INEC says it did so because it has yet to receive the court compelling it to grant access to the PDP and its candidate Atiku Abubakar

- The electoral body assured that it would allow Atiku and PDP access immediately it receives the court order

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has replied claims by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it is being prevented by the electoral body from inspecting election materials.

The Cable reports that INEC made its position clear on the matter through Rotimi Oyekanmi, the spokesperson to the Commission's chairman Mahmoud Yakubu.

According to the report, INEC has yet to receive the court order directing it to allow PDP's presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku to inspect election materials used during the Saturday, February 23 elections.

This, INEC says, is responsible for the delay PDP is experiencing in having access to the materials it wished for.

“It is common knowledge that since the declaration of the results of the presidential election, the commission has been busy with the multiple activities associated with the national assembly, governorship, state houses of assembly and federal capital territory elections.

“Only last Thursday, the commission presented certificates of return to senators-elect and house of representatives members-elect, including PDP members.

“Nevertheless, the commission will comply when the due process is followed,” Oyekanmi said.

But the court granted them this since, why deny them still? Moreover did apc obtain any court order before u allowed them to "inspect" (and change evidences) the election materials? "

I had expected the PDP. Atiku and the lawyers to follow up at the court for INEC to be served the court order that making dirty statement to get public sympathy as usual

I can confirm that up till 4pm on Friday the INEC legal department has not received the court order.

PDP should wise up and stop this childish act.

I know the Igbos will still bash INEC but who cares.

I am sure that INEC must have explained this to pdp, instead of seeing reason with them, as usual they rather preferred to come and start crying on top of their voices raising false alarm. Do they expect INEC to act on rumor and hearsay without having a court order ?

Useless excuses, does INEC need a court order before allowing PDP access to such?

Like a student asking for the transcript of his exams from lecturer, why should such demand a court order if the examiner got nothing to hide?

Why are some of you like this?

BTW, have you requested for the transcript of your exams before?
Even your answer script (booklet) can't just be given to you not to talk of transcript without proper written application duly authorized
