Rwanda, a small East African country with a population of about 12 million people, suddenly became famous because of a monstrous genocide in 1994, which claimed the lives of over a million people, in a war between two tribes, the Hutu and Tutsi.

After the painful chapters of Rwanda’s political history, nothing was heard about the country any longer than a country of genocide. However, 25 years after surviving the worst atrocity, devastation, and hunger, Rwanda now leads African countries on a number of important factors.

According to the Index of Prosperity in Africa, released by the London Legatum Institute, Rwanda came in first place, in terms of development and the country is changing rapidly, becoming better than any African country.

The country was ranked among the top ten in terms of education, health care, quality of government, security, and economic development.

In East Africa, Rwanda became the most prosperous state on the whole African continent, as the eighth in quality of life. South Africa, Botswana, and Morocco took the first three places.

Such impressive progress is amazing in a place where there is little to be found, and especially in a country which was decimated by war but rapidly gain momentum to lead African countries who are still struggling decades after independence.

It seems Paul Kagame gets his inspiration from the Singaporean leader, Lee Kwan Yew because he doesn’t hide his admiration for him.

The Singapore leader with an iron fist has eradicated corruption and turned the poor settlement of fishermen and smugglers into a sparkling and prosperous city of the future and the Rwandan President has set himself the goal of repeating Singapore’s success in Africa.

Does one need to be cruel to build a successful country? The methods used by Kagame are similar to that of Lee Kwan Y. Kagame has unleashed a merciless type of jihad to fight corruption in the country, reducing the incurable cancer-corruption drastically.

The president, without hesitating, sends critics to prisons, crushes all opposition, and does not allow journalists any criticism in his address.

Paul Kagame has used the principles of West Europe to build his law enforcement agencies and the safety of people on the streets is the highest priority. The courts were radically reformed and now the judges handle the vast majority of cases elected by the residents of the communities in which they

Just to add that he’s not a vindictive bigot that feels his own ethnicity/region/religion should take the juiciest posts in government, and diverts development and resources primarily to regions/ethnicities that voted for him, while subtly, codedly, or even brazenly dealing with those he has a historic grudge against...and who gave him 5%!

Apart from our fraudulent population figures, big oil income, in what way is Nigeria better than Rwanda

Nigeria came out of Civil War in 1970 and Rwanda came out of genocide in 1994. Both involved tribes at war with other tribes, just that Nigeria's was several tribes (North,NC and SW) vs Biafra. There was genocide in both wars.

But Rwanda has gotten it right by just a man, Paul Kagame who came to "heal" and lead Rwanda to prosperity but we have a Buhari who fools thinks is the "saintly messiah" but he makes it clear time and again that Nigeria is for some people and a religion and anyone that don't share their faith dies. They loot our treasury with reckless abandon, albeit with utmost secrecy.

Today, Rwanda is one of the countries with ease to do business, high GNI, better life expectancy (Christians are endangered in Nigeria), creating wealth and lifting their people out of poverty. In fact, Rwandans unanimously voted Paul Kagame for a third term in office, something Obasanjo tried to bribe his way to get, Abdelaziz Boutfelika Laurent Gbagbo, Jameh, Idi Amin, Joseph Kabila and host of others can't get.

These are Presidents/ leaders in Africa in terms of impact they made:

1. Nelson Mandela
2. Good luck Jonathan
(arguably the most Democratic leader in Africa).
3.
Moumar Ghadaffi
4. Paul Kagame

Argue with your keypads.

As soon as their president started dealing with religious pastorpreneurs , I knew the country was headed to the path of success.
The moment Nigerians start believing in themselves, not waiting on miracles and know that success as well as failure lie in their hands, the country will be prosperous.

Biafra would have been like South Africa. Hausa-Fulani and Yorubas have really destroyed us!

If you think that your comment in the first paragraph is the problem of Nigeria as you make it then you are naïve.

For those of us born in the 70s, I can tell you that the major problems of Nigeria are (but not exhaustive):
1. Tribalism (give rise to nepotism etc)
2. Religious intolerance/supremacy
3. Corruption

If you think that it isn't a problem, then you must be too old to think straight. Go to fraudulent miracle ministries across Nigeria between working hours of 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday and see the number of active youths seeking prayers/miracles instead of working hard.
You may have listed major problems of the country but ignoring little problems is a foolish thing to do.
