It will make Garri expensive. Farmers will no longer farm for food processing, they will prefer to earn more selling to those factories than mere profit from garri processing

you have no idea how much cassava goes to waste after harvest and in storage

this is so nice, as a chemical engineer who has done extensive research on this project, i can say it is a viable one. and a step in the right direction. I will be glad to throw in my expertise if they so wish.

China is looking for cheap ethanol from Nigeria. This project will triple or quadruple the price of Nigerian staple foods while paying employed locals starvation wages.

Blacks are such føøls. First we were exploited by the white man, now the filthy yellow man is here to continue from where the whites stopped. . . .
Thats how they think with their belly.

It is because they know they will get attention. If comments like that are repeatedly ignored, it will become boring to post such.

You are right. I think we should start ignoring these mofos. I don't understand why one person will term an entire enthic group 'afonja', 'skull miners' and some will term others 'coneheads', 'drug peddlers'. It's really sickening and it means such person is no different from that racist idiot in Christchurch, New Zealand that murdered people in cold blood while live-streaming it. The only difference is that we ain't permitted to hold guns in this country, if not, pandemonium will be unleashed. Hah! hah!

To those of you ignorantly shouting that garri will suddenly become expensive as a result of this project, you know next to nothing about planting of cassava. Unlike yam that requires being grown from the tuber or recently improved seed, as well as huge heap and definite climatic conditions cassava grows by merely cutting and planting the stem. Some people don't even make ridges to grow their cassava, especially in the north central. It is one of the most versatile crops we have in Nigeria, growing everywhere with little restrictions.
As such, it doesn't require so much effort to grow and lots of people are using it for different purposes. Do you know the amount of fufu Nigerians consume everyday, yet garri has not upped suddenly in price due to balance of supply.

The Industrialization efforts of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will soon receive a major boost as the cassava to ethanol plant at the Ondo /Linyi Industrial Hub within Ore Industrial Park, Ore will soon be ready for operation.

Massive work is currently ongoing on the cassava to ethanol plant. The plant is a product of one of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Akeredolu’s administration and the Linyi Municipal Republic in China during the Governor's visit to China last year.

The vision of the Governor to industrialize the state for economy prosperity is yeilding more positive results.

When completed, the cassava to ethanol plant will need 300 to 400 tons of cassava daily. What this means is that cassava farmers in the state will have a ready market at the plant. With an estimation of about 1million tons annually, the cassava to ethanol plant will also afford the state the unique opportunity to key into the Federal Government initiative of Cassava off - takers.

This plant alone provides a window of employment opportunities for the youths in the state.

Cassava to ethanol..........a big no no. It is not sustainable. As a matter of fact, the renewable energy society strongly discourage the use of second generation biomass/feedstocks such as direct agricultural farm produce for such.

It's really hard for an average Nigerian to identify opportunity/ies.

If the company's demand for cassava goes up that it's affecting availability of Garri, common sense will tell you that more investment in cassava farming is lucrative?

Abeg how else do think jobs will be created and forex saved?
