Buhari is marginalising Igbos. It seems the policy of this government is to deprive Igbos of their rights.

In spite of all we have done for this government, yet he's bent on punishing us. Imagine how Hausas have the Presidency, Yorubas have the VP, Hausa has the Senate Presidency and Yoruba have Speaker of the House.

We contribute the most in Lagos. 90% of Lagos tax is paid by igbos. 70% of Federal taxes are paid by igbos. Yet, they are depriving us of our right.

That Tinubu is a very wicked man. He made sure Igbos in Lagos were chased from polling units like dogs and that was why we wanted Otoge in Lagos if not for that Afonja idiot Jimi Agbaje.

Senate Presidency is the right of we Igbos even if we don't support Buhari. Buhari is marginalising us.

The real blue plan of APC that saraki connive with PDP to turn down since 2015 is now set to materialise.

that might only work if the entire APC do not unite behind a single candidate.

I see PMB coming hard on those who have been alleged of stealing our wealth. Immediately the 9th Senate will come on board I see the anti-corruption bill PMB sent to the Nass that Saraki kept in the locker since 2016 getting pass in to law. And some other laws that will make it hard for the accused persons to have access to their loots.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the nod to Ahmad Lawan as senate president and Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker of the house of representatives in the in-coming national assembly, TheCable can report.

The duo, who are currently the leaders of the APC caucus in the upper and lower chambers of the national assembly, enjoyed the support of the president in 2015 but Senate President Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of reps, teamed up with some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers to edge them out.

While Lawan did not get the opportunity to go head-to-head with Saraki, Gbajabiamila lost to Dogara by eight votes.

However, Saraki is out of the way, having left the APC for the PDP and lost his re-election bid.

Dogara is also not expected to put a fight as PDP, his new party, does not have enough numbers in the house of reps.

In the red chamber, APC has 25 seats more than PDP while the ruling is clearly ahead of PDP by 100 seats in the green chamber.

Last week when he announced his ambition to lead the senate, Lawan, who represents Yobe north, said the ruling party will do things differently in choosing the leadership of the 9th national assembly because it had learnt its lessons in 2015.

“We are not in any way thinking that we will have crises; it is not what we are envisaging at all. But let me say that our party, the APC, must have learnt its lessons, and therefore, the party leadership will do something differently this time,” he had said at a press conference in Abuja.

Lawan was elected into the house of representatives in 1999 and got into the senate in 2007. The 60-year-old is a graduate of the University of Maiduguri where he read geography. He also has a postgraduate diploma in land survey, an MSc and PhD in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS), all from the University of Cranfield, United Kingdom.

On his part, Gbajabiamila, who represents Surulere 1 federal constituency of Lagos state, is an ally of Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the APC. He was first elected into the green chamber in 2003.

A law graduate from the University of Lagos, he started his career with the Bentley, Edu and Co law firm in Lagos before he established his own firm, Femi Gbaja and Co. where he was principal partner. Gbajabiamila later returned to John Marshall Law School in the US and was said to have graduated top of his class, earning himself a juris doctorate. He set up a law firm and had a brief stint of practice in the US after he passed his Georgia bar exams in 2001. Later, he returned to Nigeria to join politics.

The national working committee (NWC) of the ruling party was in a meeting with the newly elected APC members in the house of representatives on Monday when this report was filed.

Speaking at the Yar’Adua Center, Abuja, where the politicians gathered, Adams Oshiomole, national chairman of the APC, made it clear that the purpose of the meeting is to ensure that the party produce the leadership of the lower chamber.

“We will ensure that we have a leadership of the national assembly that share the vision of the executive . Although we stick to separation of power and unless the various arms pursue the same agenda it is difficult for the executive to fulfil its promises and legislative backing is often require for most of the executive actions,” Oshiomhole said.

I read comments and it's funny that apc has learnt nothing from how leaders of the eighth nass emerge...this brute force approach won't work....with d vice president from sw expect a shocker as tambuwai dogara emerge against their parties preference..the fact that apc has no two third majority in nass means they need to ist present leaders that will appeal to the opposition and also lobby key members of the opposition...anything short of that especially if on that day of elections there are two or three contestants then lawan would not be senate president...so also gbajiabamila speaker...like yerima said last time before saraki emergence no outside force can control nass...politics sometimes is negotiations which is where APC should be wise knowing fully well that nass is not their exclusive property...
key things for apc
1.puting zoning to good use
2.carry all Apc members along not with brute force
3.put forward leaders that will appeal to the opposition so that in case there are those who ll contest party decision it count for nothing this means wise negotiations
4.let Adams oshomole not lead d process neither tinubu but others...my humble submission

Lol.

You pay bla bla % tax in Lagos.

Did anybody force you people to stay in Lagos?

It is ridiculous that igbos want to determine who governs Lagos for the yorubas.

Until igbos get their acts and senses together, no Igbo man will occupy the top three positions in the country.

They have already failed even before starting.
They will just be like a rubber stamp of the executive.

Exactly. There is nothing the Executive wanted to do from 2015 to 2019 that it did not do irrespective of the Legislature and the Judiciary. Selecting who becomes leader in both Houses is just a means of sharing consequences. It is unlikely going to change the status quo. Mr. President knows that.

Olugbayi:

Please be reminded that Igbo nation overwhelmingly voted for Atiku and your exiled spiritual leader Kanu instructed IPOB leaders to follow suit. You thereby marginalised your nation despite the facts you all know Atiku can never defeat Buhari !
That Igbo contibuted 90% of Lagos Tax is beyond my imagination and without any iota of truth or facts.
The truth is that Igbo lesders are happy to play second fiddle to anyone in Nigeria. Ekwueme,Obi etc...
Recalls that IPOB are already praising Gov.Tambuwal of Sokoto state on his reelection and suggesting Gov.Ikedioha to be his running mate comes 2023.
What a naked amotion. !!
Tell me now who is the cause of Igbo misfortune in Nigeria politics. ? The answer is Igbo nation !
Imagine if all SE, SS, and SW voted the same party, the North will be forced to negotiate and behold...
When there is political awareness in Igbo land to believe that Ibo man can be President, and join hands with Yoruba to consolidate, then it is not impossible!
Until then, the status quo ante will remain !!!

Your whole write up is rubbish. Let me ask you, did SW overwhelmingly vote for Buhari? 53% to Buhari and 47% to Atiku shouldn't give you any bragging rights in Buhari's victory.

Talking about playing second fiddle, that's exactly what your people have been doing since 2015 with the hope of 2023 presidency returning to SW. Despite Buhari sidelining Tinubu after winning in 2015, he was still willing to support Buhari in 2019 cos of the hope of 2023.

Since the South cannot unite, the North will keep using us. I can tell you that by 2023, northern leaders will align with SE/SS again and take over power through PDP. They are already positioning themselves for 2023 with the current election outcome. In 2015, only 2 northern states went to PDP. Now, there are going to be 5 states (Sokoto, Bauchi, Benue, Taraba and Adamawa). By 2023, they will overwhelmingly vote for PDP cos there won't be any Sai Baba factor.

If the South should unite, then it should be under PDP not APC. SE/SS are completely PDP. Even the SW has a strong PDP presence especially when you remember that 47% of SW votes went to PDP last month. Also, do I need to remind you that as at 2003, 5 out of the 6 SW states were ruled by PDP? You guys should stop making it seem like there's no PDP in your region.

No one should cry over this oooo. On a very light note. I think the Yorubas deserve the speakership to balance the two religions in the two zones since some people have succeeded in dividing them along religious lines. Kudos to Buhari for being proactive on this. After all 2 zones in this country have produced a sitting VP and Speaker on two different occasions 1979 & 2011 and heaven didn't fall. God bless Nigeria.

The owners of the land never cry but you omo atohun rinwa is complaining. Yoruba is progressing because the sons and daughters of the land know their right and left.
Summarily, Tinubu will train your politicians how to govern and empower young ones if allowed without requesting for a dime so that they can take over in future. God bless Yorubas in Jesus name.
