I'm a lil bit confused , on his website, Pat Utomi says he is running under the ARP, but this article says he is the presidential candidate for ADC. Are they the same candidate? Anyone have a list of candiates in the ADC party? http://allafrica.com/stories/200701230405.html |
@Mariory Tanks a bunch for the pics, im loving the cabin style houses, i bet the view from there is lovely. Ill post some pics when I visit later this year. |
but look at made in china products, years ago they were considered fakes, but people still purchased their products, now the image of made in china products is changing, they are no longer soley associated with low quality. im sure there are some nigerian products out there that have good quality, |
Why do we prefer imported goods to Made in Nigeria products? Would you buy Chivita over Five Alive? Would you buy a Zinox computer over a HP Presario? I'm considering starting a manufacturing business in Nigeria, but I have been told it will fail because Nigerians won’t patronise the goods. |
Super Visco Static ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPXAqzCqFMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD6WyYyufuI |
@ n-guage , thanks for the you tube link. Looks like a very intersting movie, where can i buy this movie from? we need this sort of quality in nollywood. How come the film was not widely popular? |
I have heard abou the place, im planning to go there sometime this year. Do you have any pictures?? Can you please post them? Tanks |
if you see singapore you will weep, ill look for some pics of singapore 30 years ago compared to what it is now and you will weep for nigeria! @katherinae, Yup Nigeria is in HELL!!! |
@Iderawole, I bet 10-20 years ago it wouldn't have been such a bad name. ![]() I think at this point most Nigerians are aware that it is not well with us, however we just continue to live life with the "hope" that things will change. We are very religious people, and with religion there is abundance of hope. Maybe we need a public dialogue , a televised programme (Bring Frank Olize back!) I agree with your reasoning (about positive attitude) However I don't see how Nigeria today will have a visionary leader. Except that visionary leader chooses to get the position through dishonest means, "play the game" like the others. With regards to your suggestion about leadership training at primary level, I guess for this to have maximum impact, the Ministry of Education will have to change the curriculum, and perhaps introduce a course on social values? My point here is that it has to start from the family, from the home. Even in Nigeria the religious institutions have failed to instil moral values. We cant rely on the state/ education/ religious institutions, rather the family is the starting point and these other institution do best as supportive mechanisms. Long live Nigeria! |
I'm just curious to find out if there are any nairaland members running for a post in the 2007 elections?? If so , please state a synopsis of your manifesto, desired position and your party. Thanks. |
nice thread / dialogue. indeed our VALUE SYSTEM needs to change before anything can change in that country. However the most difficult thing to do is change the way we think. Perhaps the Government should provide every Nigerian citizen with self-help" books such as 7 Habits of highly effective people?? ?? How do we got about changing our attitude? |
@ goggoji , I agree, the fact that we are almost numb to corruption is an alarming indication of the extent to which this cankerworm has eaten into the flesh of our country. In this fight against corruption the EFCC or relevant body, needs to take their fight to the local government leaders as well. The money they have been given to maintain and develop infrastructure in the country has been diverted to their personal pockets. We too greedy, every man for himself, countries have been able to turn around their economic misfortunes in less than 3 decades, we can do it, but that is only if we (me and you) stop being greedy!. All those running for a position in 2007, why are they doing it? Whose needs are they going to address when they get into office? Where are the honest Nigerians? Why are we leaving these positions to the hand of "uneducated" greedy souls? Has anyone had a look at the Nigerian budget? I have been following it since 2004 and each year I review what has been allocated to different states and ministries. http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/pub/2007budget.pdf What have they done with the money? each time money is allocated for one road works or the other, yet the road remains in the state it was 8 years ago, even a little child can figure out what is going on. So why aren’t we seeking for more accountability and transparency at all levels (local, state and federal). We should have budget review every end of year, everyman should come and account for what he has done with the money! If they don’t account for it here on earth, perhaps when we get to the other side there shall be a very very long queue for "NIGERIAN POLITICIANS ONLY" to account for all the missing funds!. |
OH gosshhhhhhhhhh IKEBE SUPER!!! At the age of 5 i was was introduced to IKEBE through an Aunt. Actually I was IKEBE! This is one of my earliest childhood memories, when this my aunt comes to the house she'll be shouting " WHERE IS IKEBE" and she smack my bum-bum. I used to get blue and black from embrassement. |
hey beecroft, wat u going to do in singapore? my sis there and she thinks it is a really nice place however be ready for some level of discrimination. Nigerians have somehow managed to conduct some 419 activities there, so they are a bit weary of Nigerians. Enjoy your relocation. |
The "Nigerian Police Force" should be disbanded. We need a new organisation starting from scratch. I think the average Nigerian policeman should be educated at least to HND level. They need to be trained (intellectually) as police work is not only by the gun you carry or the uniform you wear. They need a proper Police academy, if they have resources ( which they should from all the N20 they collect on the street!) they should even outsource the training of the police force to another country. What I mean is that invite other police forces that have been successfull at reducing crime rates (i.e it does not neccessarily have to be from US/UK, see low crime rate in countries like Singapore!) They need to conduct a study on countries that have low crime rates with an effective police force and then get our policemen trained with this people. In terms of structure and specialisation of task, I think: The new police force should be divided into 3 divisions ( Ground Force, Investigative Officers and Monitoring Officers). For clarification, ground force should consist of officers that are physically present patrolling on the streets (but no police check point!) Investigative officers should be those who are tasked to solving crimes and monitoring officers should be those who are responsible for keeping track of crime rates ( students with degrees in economics or those with good mathematical abilities fit well into this category). With high unemployment rates among graduates , I feel the police should use this opportunity to recruit graduate students. Of course the issue of salary is critical to the work of the policeman, thats where the financial support of the government is required. If the police is willing to change and they are genuinely looking for a solution, they can contact me on 999!. Dats just my 50kobo sense!. |
Hello people! I mistakenly stumbled upon this website last week, and I must say that I am Happy to have made this discovery! Well done to whoever started this site and to those who contribute towards the growth of this on-line community. I am hoping to make this my on-line home <>. Btw, what happened to kobo?
