@ easimoni thanks for the info, i did my homework- although im not an efiko like you i couldnt understand the whole tax thing in nigeria, seems complicated, so many taxes and i was looking for somewhere i cud find a break down of all the taxes (both state and federal). |
i agree, Nigerians dont really believe in insurance because we have hope that God will save us from the road accident, form the fire, from the armed robbers, so why pay money when you can be insured by free through God, thats just the mindset. |
i take it that we dont pay taxes in nigeria? no one ? hello any response? |
unemployment is high , many qualified gradutes cant get job, but yet foreigners can come to the country and snap up jobs. lots of job available for expats, but lots of unemployed graduates. |
does anyone know of a plastic packaging company in Nigeria, that manufactures like plastic cups , plates etc? like what is used in the fast food industry? tanks , any leads will be appreciated. |
why dont u try and manufacture these things in nigeria ![]() |
Does anyone know where i can find information about the business and income tax rates in Nigeria? Thanks. |
ada, do you also convert it to soya milk? |
im k-fed up of all this zoning, south-south, south-west, north-north shit! We are all Nigerians! end of story. but im not k-fed up of being a nigerian (not just yet) |
interesting, i have been studying the influx of south african and chinese businesses in Nigeria, and at the current rate i reckon we will be like south africa in the apartheid era. Foreigners will be the owners of businesses whilst nigierans will be the labourers, the lower working class! Other foreigners are recognising the opportunities in country , while we nigerians are more interesting in buy and sell kind of business. See the chinese moving into the north to set up shoe factories, I think the way to go is Manufacturing and providing services! You dont have to be wealthy, just start somewhere, be consistent and grow, most businesses in nigeria start up with a bang, then someone gets bored / complacent, and service and product is just crap! How many good nigerian brands do we have ?? long live Nigeria |
thanks bossman, i even found a cheaper deal on airlineconsolidators! |
@bossman/ others have u used Air-Gorilla.com before? their prices are so much cheaper than the others, just worried if it is a scam. |
With so many graduates and qualified people in Nigeria, why do companies always seek to employ foreigners "expat'' to do jobs that Nigerians can do. Seems like we still have the colonial mind! My brother works in a hotel, where his manager used to work in the UK as a front desk receptionist, Why because he has managerial experience? He is white? Do we have employment policies that protect jobs for Nigerians? For example, see this job ad, culled from: http://nigeriawhatisnew..com/2006/10/another-reason-nigeriaafrica-does-not.html Job Title: IT Project Manager Salary/Pay Rate: £1,050 - £1,300 pcm Location: Lagos Other Unique Job ID: 9466263 Ideal for candidates from Eastern Europe e.g. Romania, Ukraine, Belarus etc with the following profile: IT Background:- Windows server and networking- SQL server Telecom Background:- TCP-/IP, networking- WAN and CDMA, GPRS knowledge is good but not mandatory |
its true, its on bbc / reuters too. http://africa.reuters.com/world/news/ |
Just read this on BBC news. Apparently INEC have stated that the ballot papers for tomorrow's election are still in South Africa where they are being printed, hence voting will start at a later time , http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6576077.stm |
One of the millions of problems of this country is that we are consumed by the position of the Presidency and Party politricks. Indeed, he is the leader of the country; however the local / state governments have the ability to directly impact upon our lives positively or negatively. I think during the next elections (if we have one) we should focus on local elections, those we elect to our senate, house of rep, local government chairman etc. Hopefully if we have honest people in these positions, things might begin to change from the bottom to the top. |
Seun, I think you need a writer more than a partner, perhaps you can post this on the literature section/job section of this forum. I wont say you need a '"partner" , because a partner is more involved in the business, in terms of strategy. You can do a casting call, and get people to send in their written work. |
see the way they casually referred to Nigeria as his birthplace. if he had committed a hideous crime, it would have been the NIGERIAN K Lawal. anyways kudos to d man! |
Grew up in Warri, and i miss yabbing so much! i have forgotten most of the yabs, such as , you mess akara get belle, etc etc, there was one about babaginda as well, cant remember, would appreciate if you could write down some yabs, |
yeah, its a good initiative, but hopefully it would translate into the real thing. It was supposed to be commissioned sometime last year, i guess they are having issues with funding or something else. ![]() http://www.geometricpower.com/projects.htm by Prof Nnaji |
indeed, it would be interesting to investigate into the ownership of the media houses in nigeria. I wont be surprised if they are owned by these so called "politicians''. |
there is so much confusion going on in this country! what da hell is happening! just have this feeling something real bad is going to happen, ![]() |
nice, i would be going there shortly! now looking fwd to the trip |
I have posed this question previously, but got no response, Il try again: I'm a lil bit confused, on his website, Pat Utomi says he is running under the ARP, but this article says he is the presidential candidate for ADC. Are they the same party?? Does anyone have any information about these parties? http://allafrica.com/stories/200701230405.html Also who is he's running mate?? |
@dblock's pics. d sea actually looks like sand. nice one. Has anyone noticed the increasing number of telecommunication poles in Lagos?? i think it makes the skyline look hideous. keep d pics rolling. ill see if i have some more. |
@ ndipe , please tell them oh!!!! I dont know why we are celebrating McDonald's entrance to Nigeria!!!! We dont need McDonald! Let us celebrate our own! @omogenaija, im worried by ur statement "naija is moving on up" How does fatty food makes us move up? you mean up the weighing scales? Philippe the tourists don't need resturants they are familar with. A typical tourist travels to experience other people's culture (food including). What is the point going to China and eating a McDonald burger . I'd rather eat authentic Chinese food!!! |
i wud say locks, as there is minimal friction. |
does anyone know who is his running mate ![]() |
yippe, I have been longing to see 50kobo! On a serious note, i think it is a good strategy, however they might have gone too far. They should not have introduced the N1,000 in the first place!. I think this is aimed at curbing inflation, im not so good with economics , any economists in the house?? |
I second shola & seun. we should focus on exporting finished goods not raw materials!. Africa has been the stop shop for raw materials since the white man discovered our continent! We need to stop importing and acting as mere cosumers and traders and start manufacturing products! I am interested in the textile industry- although I must say the chinese have taken over this arena. ![]() |
