The party is supreme. And all members who won election on the party's platform need to respect its decision as long as it was done with good intention.

Allowing what happened in 2015 to re-occur again will affect the policy and programme implementation of Buhari administration.

Whether apc likes it or not, the leadership of NASS will only be determine by NASS members via voting.

You guys keep making reference to what happened in 2015 forgetting that it was because of this imposition by the party executive which they are repeating now . When you say party, are the the senators and house of reps members part of the party ? Why would such decision be taken without their input ? I pity them because they are dealing with men and not school boys.

Shut up and goan sit down abeg.

Has there ever been a time when party leaders did not pick SP and DSP for the party since 99?

Even David Mark and Ekweremadu were the choice of PDP then.

The hypocrisy of these PDP people is mind boggling.
You are still living in the past. Who did this to you? for your information, I'm not in PDP. You just displayed your narrow-mindedness.
People like you are the ones responsible for this government's low performance, because you keep going backward rather than forward.

One or 2 men calling all the shots in the party is dangerous for the party without an internal democratic process. Legislators are not dummy’s one Man can impose sm1 on them it’s never done anywhere in the civil world rather a democratic process is followed or federal character applied.

If one man tries to be a dictator in the guise of party supremacy it will always be resisted by democratic minds.

zombie started following politics since 2015. there's never a time PDP chose a candidate for SP and and DSP but rather zone it to a particular zone. Ken nnamani wasn't the candidate obj wanted but they lived with it. you can zone the office and support a candidate if your choice in that zone but picking a candidate and threatening to deal with any senator who vote otherwise shows what APC stands for. let's wait and see. if Lawan losses out as expected then tnubus 2023 ambitions will start crashing before it begins

NO, it is not! Which is why we chose this system of government over the Parliamentary system.

Once elected into office, the holder becomes a Senator of the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA and not of the APC (or any other party). Accordingly, their votes and decisions should be that which they believe to be in the best interest of Nigeria and not necessarily just in the narrow interest of the party. If both interests coincide, then that’s great but party interest should always be SUBORDINATE to national interest.

And the Legislature is superior to any party. It is best practice to have an independent, virile Parliament constitutionally enacted to make laws and oversight the Executive amd Judiciary. We just cannot afford to have a rubber stamp at the behest of an Executive led by a less than stellar democrat.

Any precedent the APC creates will be difficult to uncreate. They should consider this very carefully as they will not be in power forever. As dictatorial and meddling as Chief Obasanjo was, it was the Legislature that stopped his third term bid and who knows if he had succeded with that he may as well still be Nigeria's President today. Remember that the PDP had the majority then and it was the PDP led Houses that stalled the crises so an APC majority House acting independently is not a new thing. It is the right thing.

We have also seen what harm rubber stamp parliaments at State level have done to the democratic developmental experiences of citizens through the length and breadth of Nigeria. We have seen what disaster rubber stamp parliaments have caused nations far and wide, from those in Cameroun, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Venezuela. Where no checks and balances occur little Hitlers are founded afterall the infamous Nazi leader was duly elected but weeded out all party and ideological rivalry in the Bundestag leaving only 'yes men' whom he rallied with so called patriotoc vitriol and was in return rewarded with unmitigated power. The rest is a sad and disastrous history.

Democracy where it works best always holds power in a flux. No one is to have it in excess and unchecked. There must always be some sort of opposition to goad performance and rein in waywardness. We are a nascent democracy and we need it even more as we gradually rid our psyches of decades of totalitarian military rule and when we still have the proponents and actors of such a system very much in charge.
