So if journalists ask him, he shouldn't comment?

chrisxxx:

I never defended Onnogen. However as respected as Sagay used to be there some comments even when you know what to say you reserve your comments. Elites dont comment on every issue especially when it comes to condemnation of respected fellow.

The most dangerous thing is to use use law to promote injustice, use truth to promote lies, use medicine to kill, use light to blind, use knowledge to cause misunderstanding and confusion. APC had mastered propaganda and if you really are not informed you will be swindled by their self righteous grandstanding.

I pity Nigerians who do not realise that government is the greatest criminal, the greatest murderer, the greatest knave who takes the instruments of law, the tools of truth to inflict harm on the citizens.

One day the injustice, the hypocrisy and lies done to Onnoghen will visit another Nigerian and those who think this is about fighting corruption will realise they've been hoodwinked but it would be too late.

He's a corrupt man, a criminal in judge's robe. Simple as ABC. Leave story.
The only injustice I could see now is that this corrupt bastard has been allowed to walk away with blood money

Every reasonable person in Nigeria advised him to resign since January, he bluntly refused, hoping that the corruption sanctuary called the PDP would win the presidential election and dismiss all the charges against him with an apology letter.

Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) on Friday said he is not impressed by the resignation of Walter Onnoghen, former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) as it came too late.

Sagay who said there is no value in the resignation argued that Onnoghen should have resigned since January when the charges were made against him and he admitted that he erred.

“The resignation has come too late. It was a face-saving resignation because if he had not resigned, he would have been sacked. There is no question about that. At the very best, he would have been retired if not actually dismissed”.

“There is no value in the resignation anymore. It lacks the honour and dignity that would have accompanied it if he had done it since January when the charges were made” he said.

This loud-mouthed fool is still talking? angry A man that shamelessly defended Madam Kemi Adeosun's NYSC certificate forgery?
One thing you forgot to add is that Adeosun resigned immediately it was established that the issued certificate was illegally issued to her. So no one defended her after the truth was revealed. But Onnoghen even after admitting to not complying with the law, he still shamelessly hold on to his post and frustrate every avenue that can be legally used against him until he was suspended by order of a competent court.

The salient point was that he is the architect of all shame he is facing and impending embarrassment that may follow because the executive gave him the honor to resign based on the damming evidence but he was confident in the corrupt judiciary that he is leading and that the executive cannot legally remove him based on the power attached to the position he is holding, that is, Chief Justice of Nigeria.

so are you saying he was upright, he didn't receive kickbacks from fellow lawyers and politicians to swindle justice in their favour, someone who didn't touch his salary for years and lied that he was living off his wretched farm in nasarawa, someone who refused to show up in court over flimsy excuses like tooth decay. you just hate buhari and will side with anybody no matter how evil so far they are against him

What this government prove against him?

All the government accusations against him, which were highly publicised, the ones for which he was removed, all fell face flat in the courtroom. They turned out to be nothing but lies

Pa Saggy, is you are very with what has happened to Onnrghen, remember APC will not rule for life to shield you when your fault will be exposed. You can laugh loud at him now. Don't you see how robust you are now, is it just your legitimate salary that has changed your previous suffering and hungry outlook? Nigerians should stop laughing at peoples downfalls because tomorrow is huge. No doubt, you are dancing with great joy for what befall a great colleague of yours, hope the happiness last. Thank God Onneghen did not sell his conscience for post for easy free money.

You could not have said it better. In bullying Onoghen, the judiciary should know that they have surrendered their place and authority. It is a precedence that the judiciary would regret painfully. Anyone- judge seen as a threat would be eliminated using same instruments.

Please stop calling your fellow citizens pigs as it's not a civilized way to interact. If you want your country Nigeria to grow you must learn to use the right words. It's not a crime to have a different opinion or view.

To the extent of my knowledge, there is currently no court of law, even the regulatory bodies for judges (NJC) including Onnoghen himself, that have absolve him of the charges to which saw him being suspended and shamefully resigned. That is, the case of not declaration of active domiciliary accounts, which he himself has publicly acknowledged in written without being under duress.

But on the criminal charges of misuse of power, money laundering and bribery allegations, which I assumed you are referring to here, I have no much comments on that but for NJC to have recommended compulsory retirement pleading for full benefits for him and Onnoghen himself to have rescue himself by resigning voluntary (an option he vowed with heaven and earth not to take), I doubt if he is not guilty of the charges he is accused of. More evidently, I don't doubt the Joe Agi bribery part.

On a personal note, I have been suspecting the man, since his judgement on 2015 River State gubernatorial case. Wike has celebrated his victory at Supreme Court the Sunday before the judgement, though the judgment is technically right but literally is it a wrong judgment. Even if the constitution is Supreme (use of voter register), the same constitution empowered INEC to give guidelines to make elections fair. If INEC based on his constitutional power gave out guidelines to make elections credible by electronic accreditation, the law should not be blind to that by pronouncing that the total number of votes cannot be invalidated by reasons of being more than the total number of votes accredited by the use of card reader but only when it is more than total registered voters.

May I tell you that, that same judgement is what give rise to the problem we faced in 2019 General elections that was considered not credible because politicians has been given the confidence that the use of Card Readers is not known to current any recognised Nigeria laws, unlike in 2015 where there are fear that, it is only votes by accredited voters using the card readers that will count.

This man destroyed our democracy and has given succor to corrupt politicians and public servants.
