Would We Have Another St Totteringham's Day? by iamdrduru: 10:57am On Apr 06, 2019
St Totteringham's Day was the day when Arsenal fans celebrate the fact that Tottenham can no longer catch Arsenal in the League. It is a movable feast, but usually falls in March, April or May. It was the day to collect on bets made by over-optimistic Spurs fans in the close season who think that "this is the year" "

Its been 2 seasons since arsenal finished above Tottenham in the English premier league. Forget the league but don’t forget Tottenham. Finishing above Spurs has been like an auxiliary trophy for Arsenal fans over the years, second only to getting a place in the champions league. And as wenger’s era came fading, they lost among other things, a place above Tottenham, for the last two seasons of his reign. a feat they haven't reached for the past 22 years.

But the new revitalized Arsenal under Unai Emery, they do have a hope, to hold the celebration this year. And if added an Europa League trophy and a champions league spot, it would be the perfect season for arsenal in a long time. Arsenal are 4th on the log, a point behind their local rivals, with an outstanding match. They can finish above spurs If they win their remaining 7 games. If there’s something Arsenal has lacked over the years, its consistency. They have a chance and with no team in the top 6 on their schedule for the remaining 7 games, the odds are very well for them to win all and seal the 3rd position. Though there would be wolves on the way, the quality of players and the team spirit of this arsenal side would be sufficient to cross the bridge.

Tottenham on the other hand have a seemingly easy schedule, but with group leaders man city and middle liners west ham in their last 6 games, it wouldn't be easy. Their focus might shift still to the champions’ league and who knows? Fate may smile on them. But according to popular opinion, they might have just lost their chance for a top 4 finish, With not more than 3 points between them, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United and each team still in the fight for a place in the top 4.
This weekend they welcome Huddersfield to the New Tottenham Hotspur stadium. They would be involved in the Champions League during the midweek, most likely they would rest some key players but whatever’s left is expected to do the job.

Arsenal travel to Goodision park on Sunday to take on Everton before facing Napoli in a vital Europa League Quarter final clash on Thursday. This time around everything has to be perfect, no room for errors. it’s that time of the season again when the game gets intense and the weak fade off only the strong and the determined prevail. Arsenal would be looking to go through the remaining 7 games plus their Europa League engagement with an injury prone squad. Squad rotation can’t be ruled out, but then they can’t put all their eggs in the Europa league basket. They have to play both the same way,With the same determination and zeal. And glory won't be far from them.

For Arsenal, a finish above Tottenham would be welcomed, but most importantly a finish in the top 4 would be their priority according to Unai Emery. Tottenham would be looking at the champions league as their only hope of a silverware for the first time in 10 years. With the likes of Juventus,Barcelona and Man. city still in the picture, it looks unrealistic. But José Mourinho showed us the perfect example with Porto in 2004, of how to rise from nothing, and it wouldn’t be bad if Pochettino follow suit.
