NERC is the corruption in the electricity industry. Insiders have just created an office through MAPS to extort money from electricity consumers. Who will refund the money spent on the meter. Will it be converted to units for the customer. DISCOS are contractually bound to meter all consumers and they own the meters so why can't the corrupt and compromised NERC enforce and ensure compliance

Why should the masses pay for a property that belong to a company?, they told us is property of electricity providers not ours, they always cheat the poor masses.

Meters should be free. The DISCOs should be paying them commission.
Even the air we breathe is not free. nothing is free even in freetown

Why should the customer be the ones to pay for meters?... Meters should ideally be the property of the electric company, everything in Nigeria is just an anomaly.

I had a discussion with one of their surveys staff, from what I understand from her explanation is that once you paid for meter you are entitled to a meter and you will be provided a meter upon relocation within the state.

Why do we need to buy what the businessman need to calculate his money monthly so far we don't buy calculator for pepper seller. Meter should be free from the investor.

How is this a news? You would never get a PHCN meter for free for any of your developments. The least you need to pay in my hood is 60k.

Yeye undecided

You're simply not being realistic.

What you have here is similar to the argument for deregulation and subsidy for fuel. Either fuel is subsidized and we have fuel scarcities because suppliers are unwilling to meet the demand at that price or deregulate and ensure the product is everywhere and eventually allow competition for supply drive the price down.

Remember how much GSM lines were at the beginning? How much do lines go for now?

Remember how much DStv decoders use to go for? How much are they now?

Nigerians argue they are being ripped off with estimated billing and need prepaid meters. For years now the demand for the meters have not been matched by supply because the pricing is not attractive.

Now we have providers ready to bridge this gap at a premium.

The onus now for Nigerians is to pay up and get the meter or continue accepting estimated bills. With time, the price of meters will go down.
with all your explanation you forgot to mention that we are buying meter for the business man to measure his money. which is fraudulent, but by offering incentive like bonus credit units can help Bridge the gap and all will seem/be gappy at the end. and that my brother isn't subsidy, its a smarter and fairer business move.

How did we get here? The Power Holding Companies or NERC should install their meters and bill household for the power consumed at the end of the month. that how is done every were in the World. This is case were you pay for building a house and also pay for rent. There is God oooo

What would you consider to be a fair price for a meter?
Zero amount. That's what obtains in other climes.

Fair point about compensation to the consumer for procurement of a meter which is meant to be a business expense. That should be taken into consideration in due course. However, what should be target now is how to ensure meters are readily available nationwide and promptly delivered. We all know that the power sector is bedeviled with severe funding challenges and currently is running at a loss so we have to all be on board in proferring realistic and workable solutions to resolving this metering problem which we have all been crying out for a solution.

Do you even go to church?

Someone has been issuing you with estimated bills which you have been complaining about.

You know the solution to this problem is metering which has not been successfully deployed till date due to the Nigerian factor.

Suggest a realistic solution, you no fit do.

All you want to do is to complain.
