Corruption Allegation: Why they are after DCP Rabi

A close assocoate of the Head of the Police Education Department, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rabi Umar Laraba has cried out over alleged plot to forcefully remove her from office.

The associate while reacting over allegations of corruption levelled against her by the Coalition for Peace and Security (CUPS).

CUPS, in a statement issued by its director, Dr. Idris Ahmed, alleged that the police officer while serving as secretary to former IGP Ibrahim Idris, collected bribes for promotion.colleagues of the officer who consider her a stumbling block.

The comfidant to the DCP disclosed that since her assumption of office as head of the police education department, DCP Rabi has taken drastic steps to reduce corruption within the system.

DCP Rabi was said to have inherited a rotten school system and immediately went to work to introduce sanity among officials who are prone to cutting corners.

He said a few rotten eggs who are not happy with the stand the DCP has taken, are now out to tarnish her hard earned reputation just so she can be removed from her office.

“She reconstructed and renovated schools, where previously students were sleeping on bare floors. Most significantly, she put an end to the weekly sharing of money by officials who deduct funds from children school fees.

“Before her arrival, N5000 was being deducted from the N20, 000 feeding charges for sharing among officials,” the source further disclosed.

“I can confidently tell you that DCP Rabi’s promotion was in order. Her promotions came after every three years. In her 31 years of service, she is among a few who we can testify, never demanded for bribe,” the source added.

He warned that DCP Rabi will confer with the authorities on the matter but that she will certainly sue CUPS before a court of law for defamation of character.

“All the allegations in the statement are not true. It is the handiwork of disgruntled persons who are not happy with the reforms DCP Rabi has introduced in the system,” the source added.

He challenged anyone with credible information on any of the corruption allegations levelled against the police officer to come forward with such.
