"Ojo Aderemi was a one-time Student Union President of the prestigious University of Ibadan, he was rusticated by the management on the basis of staging a protest against the inability of the management of the institution to issue the students their ID cards having made payment for it"
A Press release was posted on Facebook highlighting the reinstatement of Ojo Aderemi, a one-time Student Union Leader of University of Ibadan, The press release states further below:

"The TakeitBack movement seizes this medium to state it's outright rejection and total condemnation of the Rustication of Ojo Aderemi; The Students' Union President of the University of Ibadan, by the management of the University. We reject it as despotic and unbefitting of a democratic clime. The TakeitBack movement is prepared to join forces with Nigerians and mass of students to demand the immediate reinstatement of the students' leader and restoration of the illegally banned students Union.

Recall that Ojo Aderemi had led a congressionally resolved protest against the inability of the management of the institution to issue the students their ID cards having made payment for it. The announcement by the Congress of students to stage a protest against management's irresponsibility was first met with stiff resistance by men of the Nigerian police force acting on the instruction of Prof. Olayinka; the Vice Chancellor of the institution. The commissioner of Police threatened to shoot the students if they make true of their plan to stage a protest against the authorities of the institution. But this threat did not prevent the Students' Union President from leading the students in peaceful demonstration to execute the demand of Congress for students ID card. Upon staging this protest, the management got furious and decided to immediately and illegally proscribe students union activities and subsequently put together a kangaroo panel to intimidate to criminal silence, activists, members of Union parliament, Union executives viz other fighting arms of the Students Union. Please recall that all of this events happened in 2017. The Olayinka led University management had to wait till all agitations for union restoration are completely buried and calm before launching this attack on the said leader of the Students.

Hence, the victimization of Ojo Aderemi came to us as a rude shock. This does not however mean we are surprised or oblivious of the underlying intentions of the management of the University of Ibadan. Everywhere in Nigeria, there is a renewed and conscious attempt to completely kill the tradition of radical students unionism. And this is because there is a looming attack of fee increment on every institution of the country including the University of Ibadan. Just this month, the state government of Sokoto and management of Sokoto state university had increased fees of the institution by 100%. The Nigerian government is on the verge of launching several attacks on the poor people of this country. As we can see, the government would be increasing the price of fuel and VAT very soon. This would definitely put a strong strain on the economy and pocket of the poor man. These increments would also translate to the increment in all commodities including fees. This is why there is a plan to first smash our ability to resist these attacks before introducing several draconic policies.

This is why the TakeitBack movement views these attacks beyond the question of democratic rights of students but also an attempt by government to undermine our ability to resist imminent attacks on the living standard of the Nigerian people. It is to this end that the TakeitBack movement calls on mass of students and well meaning Nigerians to reject all conscious attempt to reduce our university into mere barracks and turn our democratic space into an arena of tyranny
