Convict him based on what?
When you couldn't prove your case at the CCT.
Stupid people.

For those who know very little, Omoghen only retired after the NJC recommended it.

Thats because even if he wins the FG in court, he can never be CJN again as the NJC who is empowered to recommend CJNs had asked him to retire.

I see zombies commenting with so much authority on this matter and I laugh.
Just as they are everywhere today writing epiatles about how Atiku isn't a Nigerian.

You have stated a false premise, not a fact! So facts are not needed.
But just so you know, your CJ has a case to answer, as for CCT it's still on, it's the NJC that is trying to recommend a retirement bearing soft landing. So get your facts right, also a prayer in court as wished by any party to any matter is proper as to what would seem right to do punitively or morally!

See?

And what is the fact?
That the CJN has a case to answer?

Which case? The one at the CCT or the one that had taken EFCC over 3 months to fabricate.

Whatever you said up there is an assumption. What Umar did, forcing the CJN to defend the case, was "face saving" for the FG. and likewise what sagay and other are doing.

Read up,. This is not the first time anyone is talking of a soft landing.

The FG sent people to offer him to resign on these same terms last year. Full retirement benefit.

CUPP even alleged they wanted to force him to resign at gun point.

Except you have a short memory, it was everywhere.
The man refused.

I know most of you are blinded by party loyalty, but every one who knows how this government operates will tell you they don't have anything on the man.

What they are doing is just face saving, after the uproar from his CCT no-case submission.

Nairaland has really lost its values.

I have come to the conclusion that your judgements are marred by sentiments, Mr senior nairalander. Party loyalty?? Who me? Ask yourself these set of questions?
Why did he eventually resign? Did he chicken out in a face of damning revelations? Or has he come out to tell you that he was being threatened or intimidated?

Think!
Clearly too.
Also stop fighting for a man that has surrendered already.

Over sabi senior nairalander grin

Bros, there's a difference between Retire and Resignation.

Justice Onoghen resigned from his position ... this he did to actually avoid the "compulsory retirement" recommended by the NJC.
NJC did not recommend that he should resign but rather that FG should give him compulsory retirement.
