Rep. Chike Okafor, member representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo State, on Tuesday formally declared intention to contest for the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th Assembly.

Okafor, a two-term member of the House of Representatives disclosed this during an interactive session with officials of Non-Governmental Organisations including: Arewa Good Governance & Transparency Initiative, National Association of Universities Students, Patriotic Youth Forum of Nigeria, Arewa Students Forum, Nigerian Council of Youths and Students, National Youth Awareness Foundation on Crimes & Narcotics, National Youths and Women Organisation of Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello Youth Council of Nigeria, who presented endorsement medal and certificate to the Imo lawmaker in acknowledgement of his exemplary leadership qualities.
