I remember those days when there was steady power supply. If there is any reason for a break in power transmission, ECN (later called NEPA, which was in turn privatised) did publish a notice and/or announce it on TV days beforehand and power is restored as at the time stated in the said public announcement.

When the sun rises in the north and sets in the east.

when lizards grow hair and chickens grow teeth.

When China buys Nigeria.

When the rest of the world has migrated into space and Nigeria is the only country left on earth

It happens in some countries but corruption won't let it happen again in Nigeria

The fight against corruption is a waste of time, what we need is structure, order and standardization of processes. When we do this anybody would be able to spot corruption from a million miles away and eliminate it.

Abuja Electricity Distribution Company does that everyday through their Twitter handle. You complain to them that power is off around your area and within an hour, power is restored, if the fault is minor.

The Old NEPA/PHCN in Oshogbo used to announce at 6:30am on radio about scheduled interruption of power.

Although this 'notice' bring out nostalgia of our 'glorous past' , however it also show the Genesis of our current problems.

1) Why was there ONLY ONE electricity company generating, transmitting and distributing electricity in this Country?

2) How did the Military Government who made the decree that created NEPA think ONLY ONE Government owned company can serve the whole of Nigeria .

3) The mess we find ourselves in today is an attempt to unbundle the monster created during the Military Rule through over centralization.
