Imagine what an elderly statesman uttered in media.

Gentlemen and ladies this is a slap to your face.
O'yes, I was taught in school that input determines output.

Show me your leaders and I will show you the level of economic growth and development in the nearest future.
You're dignifying him when u call him a statesman
Shame on him!

it's only few people that understands will support the minister.....the remittance of Nigerians in diaspora is really helping our economy.

Nigeria actually have the highest concentration of doctors in the world, while many are unemployed,it's better they seek jobs abroad

The cost to train a doctor at a federal or state university is being subsidised by the federal government. A trained doctor that leaves Nigeria provides healthcare services to people who did not pay for his/her education, at the same time, the doctor pays taxes to the government in the country where he/she resides. Taxes that should go to the Nigerian government since it already invested in the doctor's education.

This is why Nigeria has one of the lowest tax to GDP ratios, why Nigeria has the most number of people living in extreme poverty and why Nigeria will remain a basket case for the foreseeable future. our leaders and people are pennywise and pound foolish.
it is not every doctor that is a surgeon bro
Silence would have been golden to the fool who thinks that all doctors are surgeons. He belongs to the hall of infamy like the minister he intends to defend. Your brain is full of saw dust and one imagines how you strayed here to comment. Thank you bro for educating the ignoramus.

You that agree can you tell me the number of doctors in your village.

The whole of odeomu in osun state has not even a resident doctor. Some health facilities don't have enough doctors, doctors seem to be too much on the city streets because government refuse to engage them

You're not correct bros.. The ratio is 1:15000
Jayslicky:
Nigeria has enough doctors!!! Is this man high on some drugs? The number of doctors to patient is 1 to 1200.

Many people have lost their lifes due to the few number of medical practioners we have, the government should rather find a way to improve doctors salaries and provide essential equipment for their work instead of acting unconcerned, the truth is Nigerian doctors are well appreciated abroad.

It's not because they are enough, it's because they can't afford to pay enough hands hence employ little and suck them dry. The reason for the call duty introduced into the medical profession instead of shift is because there aren't much hands hence same people will have to run the affairs of the hospital at night.

What do you expect when a hospital that has the capacity to employ 50 residents in a unit will employ only 15 or less. Patients that need urgent attention will have to wait for days before getting treatment.
Our major problem is that Nigerians don't even know their rights or what to demand from their leaders.

OK O! Why is Ghana not hemorrhaging doctors like us?
Ghana pays about 3 times what Naija pays.
Only a foolish minister will say these flippantly.
As much as all sectors are important, a serious country doesn't play with law enforcement/ military and it's health sector-- this are essentials of any working society.
Any Nigerian doctor should try to leave abeg, anywhere is better than Naija-- way better pay, better facilities...and respect!

Nigeria doesn't have enough doctors, rather there are too few standard hospitals. Ideally, each local government area in Nigeria should have a standard tertiary hospital in the class of teaching hospital, federal medical centre or multi-specialty specialist hospital. At worst, let one of such kind of hospitals serve 2 LGAs. If we had such, that's when the government would have know that there aren't even enough doctors.

Nice idea, I never thought of this, go to villages or communities their so called health centres are eye sore, shadow of it self, non is equipped, but then how this villagers manage to be healthy irrespective of not having access to a good hospital Marvels me, they live longer and stronger with little or no patronage to those death trap cottages called health centres.

Gpvernment doesn't engage them becuase government flies overseas for it's own treatment.
Doctor work, is just like any other science field. You need equipment and electricity to produce result.
As long as we continue buying shoe and watch with every penny we got, nobody buys the equipment,
