This sends a message. Loud and clear.

What'd be done about it? Nothing. This is Nigeria of course. Big shame.

People who haven't been to the Niger Delta dont know the pollution of their environment. They don't enjoy from their God-given resources.

who told u? a lot of those spillage is from wells operated by multinationals but because of poor and weak regulatory practises they don't spend money on clean.

The first and the only photoshoot that got me thinking. She has sent her message astutely. Hope the world can pay more attention to the level of environmental spoilage and human suffering in that part of the country.

after some time now they will come online and start abusing government, all the federal allocations, and derivations that your states and state governors are collecting, what did they used them for?

later some of them will say that it is their grand fathers money that they used to build Lagos state, what about your own states, go back and develop your states too

Paris club refund, internally generated revenues and all the money that your states are collecting what the hell are they using them for?

what about James ibori, asari dokubo, government epumepolo tompolo, diezani Allison madueke, all the money that they stole , have you collected them back from them before coming to nairaland to abuse buhari!

as if it is buhari that stole the allocations for your state!!!!!!!

will u short up u ignoramus. oil, like all mineral deposits on the country is controlled by the federal govt, the various regulatory bodies in the oil sector are under the federal govt, and the federal govt collects the lion share of revenue accruing from oil( about 55%) yet u are here spewing thrash about the states. of the fed govt thinks it cannot regulate the oil sector it should transfer the control of the resources to the communities where they are found.

As if Buhari cares. He would rather use the oil revenues to pay loans for the rail lines he is building for Niger Republic.

Those SS elders who went to Kaduna in 1967 and begged Arewa to cut off the non-Igbo speaking people of old Eastern region from Biafra did their worst.

Good.
But Segun Osoba just said that those asking for restructuring are only after RESOURCE CONTROL, that we only need to struggle to get good leaders.

Tinubu, Osinbajo and Fashola now say no to restructuring.

In other words, they are content with Nigeria whose political structure was rearranged by northern Nigeria's military dictators;

constitution supervised by northern military dictators -

to make the Buharis of north easily win presidential election, as well as north unduly over-populating Nigeria's parliament, and decide what must be in Nigeria.

The extent of pollution is so heartbreaking.
I wonder if the land can ever be healed .

I remember watching a film shot in the Niger-Delta, and I was uncomfortable all through

May crude oil never be found in my town !
It could be restored but according to the impact assessment done by UNEP, it would take about 25 - 30 years to clean up the mess.

The more they delay it, the more difficult it would be to clean it because the groundwater in some areas have been contaminated.
