Simple something  .. since it's quarter make it half by multiplying it with 2. Then equate it to X, after doing it collect like terms, it will then give you a quadratic equation then solve.    wrong place Nairalanders are olodos. We don't know maths, Maths is our enemy even lala sef cannot calculate the Simple interest of adding a snake to his farm every year. |

X²= (2r)²+(2r)² X²= 8r² X = 2r√2 Also Let D =Big diameter Therefore D = X + 2r 8 = 2r√2 + 2r r = 4/(√2+1) d = 2r = 8/(√2+1) = 8/2.4142 = 3.314 units to 3 d.p
