Innovation (improving) in this context is related to the religion (Islam) and not any other sector of life, Islam is an already prefect finished religion such that when you try to improve it with your own human knowledge you will actually be unconsciously spoiling it as the innovations that you bring to suit this certain generation today might become a treat/problem to other generations to come we already have such innovations causing fragmentation and extremism in the religion and part of this is as a result of some innovations made by the preceding generation in the school of thought of improving the religion to fit certain things...

I believe Islam does need "innovation" then.

The Bible has tons of extremist content in the Old Testament. However Christians mostly ignore those because of the New Testament.

Perhaps some sort of "reformation" that de-emphasises the sections and passages that compel certain people towards violent, extremist expressions will do the world a lot of good.

Eradicating innovation

what is meant by 'Eradicating Innovations' in Islamic context is not literally getting rid of the products of human intelligence as you all perceived it.. Islam is an already established Institution, the Prophet(S.A.W) had completed the establishment of Islam before his death and he told the muslims to get rid of any new Islamic practices, beliefs and modifications of the doctrines which were not taught by him. So that is the purpose of this very body in question. they work to unify Islamic beliefs and practices and further prevents innovation into the tenets of Islam.. thank you very much.
