African Church Leaders Like David Oyedepo Are Spiritually Bankrupt. by Nobody: 10:24am On May 06, 2019
When you compare the kind of leaders the church had when it first began, for instance Simon Peter to the ones that there are today in Africa, for instance David Oyedepo, in terms of how they compare with the example and results of Jesus the founder of the church, it's obvious that African church leaders more or less are spiritually bankrupt.

And this has also reflected in the extent of the mighty works today as compared to what it was in the church those days, for the church and her leaders has hence become a mockery of what the church was in those days.

And shouldn't come as a surprise where David Oyedepo who displays the traits of a pharisee in the days of Jesus, such as covetousness and accumulating of material possessions and earthly riches at the expense of the poor followers, is being regarded as one of the leading African and world leaders of the church.

So with such unchristlike leaders at the helm of affairs in the African church, the scarcity of mighty works of God in the African church is bound to continue, for it's just a true reflection of the extent of their spiritual bankruptcy.

Thanks sir.
The approach is shallow and not like Jesus would.
If you teach to be like Jesus, lets all act what we teach.
Bishop Oyedepo is not at op level at all in all areas of endeavour.
Moreover, oyedepo is not on nairaland.
op, Save yourself the criticism and make your personal life better for Christ and Humanity!

If true, then which approach is clever?

Thanks sir.
Are you also thanking him for saying that it's true that Oyedepo is spiritually bankrupt as most African church leaders are
enshy:

The approach is shallow and not like Jesus would.
If you teach to be like Jesus, lets all act what we teach.
You seem to have a fabricated idea of Jesus approach and what Jesus would do, as many Christians do these days, but I just want to refresh your memory with what Jesus did or said to the Oyedepos and blind guides of His day, so that you could show me the difference between His approach and mine, except you're also saying His approach was shallow. And please pay particular attention to the Words in red for they are the Words of Jesus:

Matthew 23:13-14, 23-24, 27-28 (KJV)

13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Matthew 21:13 (KJV)

13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Matthew 15:13-14 (KJV)

13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

So it ought to clearly obvious by now where I got my approach from.

Bishop Oyedepo is not at op level at all in all areas of endeavour.
You're right! If you're talking in terms of spiritual capacity, for the devil would rather have to deal with a million spiritually bankrupt Oyedepos than deal with me. Except you're taking from the worldly and material point of view, then you should hear what Jesus had to say about that:

Luke 12:15 (KJV)

15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Luke 16:9, 13-15 (KJV)

9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.
15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

So if you judge a man on the basis of the abundance of possession he has etc., then you are no different from those covetous men that derided Jesus there when He said the truth about such blind guides, so do not be surprised that you are also deriding me who's doing same.
enshy:

Moreover, oyedepo is not on nairaland.
So tell me, was Oyedepo, who seems to be your god and master, in the presidential villas of the african leaders when he said they were intellectually bankrupt?

If no, did you find any issues with him saying such regardless?

If no, then you should begin to see the manner of a blind follower you are to the blind guide called Oyedepo, but remember what Jesus said about where both of your kinds end up if you continually allow yourself to be misled by such ones, ditch things?
enshy:

op, Save yourself the criticism and make your personal life better for Christ and Humanity!
I love the criticisms to be frank, because if I am not criticized and derided by the spiritually blind like you, as my Master Jesus was, then it must mean I'm doing something wrong.

Of course your judgment is clearly erroneous by the standard of Jesus, so I don't expect you to know what a man's life truly consists of, if not you'd know that my
personal life couldn't be any better for Christ and Humanity, than that of Oyedepo who's an abomination in the sight of God.

I was expecting to see the definition of spiritual bankruptcy and some good examples with facts to back it up.
All we have here are blind accusations that are borne out of unstable mental faculty.

It's obvious that who you are fighting for is not God, but mammon, the things of the flesh and man.

So keep up the evil fight for mammon, and so that at the end, it would lead you to her everlasting habitations.

I was proven right when I thought it wise not to attempt to explain anything to you on the thread "no man can serve two master's", by your "trash" response when it was explained to you by someone else. For that proved it was just a flimsy excuse by you for you are neither interested nor willing to learn the truth but just to try justify the desires of your flesh, as all my efforts beforehand to make you see the vanity in your inclinations has been in vain thus far.

I can see how you have absolutely no respect for God or His interest at heart, with what you're yet attempting, in spite of all your previous failed attempts, to do on that thread which God has used to deliver many from bondage and would keep using, but know that it's God that brought me back so no man can evict me.

So keep up with your shadow chasing if you chose not to repent mammon worshipper.

You can't define the meaning of what you are accusing people of - spiritual bankruptcy.
And that amounts to intellectual bankruptcy.
Define it. This is a purely English language issue and not a spiritual one. Define it.

Always building delusional discussion on ambiguous phrases.

The Holy Spirit that only revealed to Paul and not to others and isn't here today.

Maybe Paul is actually the Holy Spirit to you.

Well the Bishop is not perfect (no one is actually). The summary of the entire book of Job is that bad things happen to good people and, sometimes, life's circumstances can be unrelated to our actions. Let's not forget the core message in his story - temptation. We all face this everyday and temptations, by my understanding, is God's way of testing our faith, whether we tithe or not.

God permits the devil to tempt believers. In the case of Job, the de.vil used what we may call a weakness against him. The devil won't tempt you in your area of strength. He did same to Jesus, offered Him food knowing very well he had just concluded a 40-day fasting and prayers.

More so, Job was a radical giver and a wealthy man, hence, what happened to him is totally independent of tithe or giving. Givers don't lack (the widow in Zarephath is an example) but giving or tithing is not a guarantee that temptations won't come your way.

"Haven't you put a protective fence around him, his home, and everything he has?
(i.e. the protective fence/hedge, until when it was temporarily removed, made the blessings of Job secure)
You have blessed everything he does. His cattle have spread out over the land.
