Besides, even if he were convicted, he could have only been barred from holding public office for a maximum period of 10yrs - do the sums, 1983 - date (2019) = 36 yrs.

Buhari did not accuse anybody of corruption in the 80's. It was the people themselves that writes petition to the Military Tribunal, who in turns bring the accused in for questioning and prosecution under the military rule.
