The Celtics are on the brink of elimination entering Game 5 of their second-round NBA playoff series with the Milwaukee Bucks, who rattled off three consecutive wins after dropping Game 1 to take a 3-1 series lead.

The Bucks rallied from a first-half deficit to defeat the C's by double digits on their own floor in Game 4, and they'll get a further boost from guard Malcolm Brogdon, who is expected to return from a foot injury Wednesday.

But Boston will be fighting for its playoff life with the intent on pushing the series back to TD Garden for Game 6.

Giannis Antetokounmpo made the leap from NBA All-Star to strong MVP candidate with a sensational regular season. Doing it during the 82-game slate is one thing. Doing it in the postseason, when the pressure is on, is another. Can the Greek Freak prove that he is indeed the worthy choice for MVP by continuing his dominant play?

While Giannis does lead his team in points, rebounds, and assists, the Bucks are far from a one-man team. His supporting cast is very strong with a total of six players averaging double-digits in scoring during the regular season. Eric Bledsoe and Kris Middleton are two very important pieces. Their contributions have continued into the postseason as they both averaged around 19 points in the four games against Detroit.

Meanwhile, the Celtics didn’t have quite the success as their opponents in the regular season. It was a very up-and-down year for the C’s that saw them enter the playoffs as the No. 4 seed after amassing a 49-33 record. Expectations were high for Boston entering the season, but now they must overcome the seemingly unstoppable Bucks to advance to the conference finals.

Giannis is clearly the dominant superstar in this series, but Kyrie Irving has the postseason experience and pedigree that will give Boston plenty of hope. The electrifying point guard averaged 23.8 points per game throughout the season and put up similar numbers in the first round. If the Celtics are to pull off the upset, they’ll need a heroic effort from their go-to player.
