What did Emefiele do to deserve a second tenure.

So true!

The economy grew barely 1% on average from 2016 till now compared to the 6% on average from 1999-2013.

Bloomberg forecasted that in the next 4 years, economic growth will average 2.5% per year. This is not up to the population growth rate. That means Nigerians will get poorer every single year.

Does a lot of the blame fall on Emefiele? Sadly, yes.

The CBN is semi autonomous and the reason for this is to prevent political meddling

When Buhari came to power, he fixed the exchange rate at 197 to a $1. This ended the floating exchange rate the country had followed since 1999.

Buhari has no right to dictate the the governor. The governor should have refused to implement it but instead did. That fixed exchange rate coupled with prohibition of 41 items from CBN forex window plunged the economy into a recession.

Emefiele and Buhari are fit for each other.

The CBN has very strong influence over economic growth.

If the CBN had refused to implement the pegged exchange rate and maintain a floating exchange rate, there would never have arisen severe scarcity of forex which caused a very severe recession.

The minister of finance too has a lot of influence in determining growth but each have their own specialties.

Yes oh, "ethnocentric Buhari must return a Northerner."

You'd see that the new song will be, "he was re-appointed because he Emefiele has become an errand boy for Buhari".

If he was not re-appointed, and a Northerner was appointed, the noise of ethnic agenda would have reached the high heavens not minding that a southerner has just completed a 5 year tenure.
And it was a northerner than was removed and replaced by godwin

In that case, you shouldn't blame emefele, you should blame your president.
The FG has alot of influence on various institutions in the country, even if Emefele refused to do as he was instructed, FG still got many ways to frustrate the economy so as to devalue the Naira, and this other ways might have been more detrimental than the present one. I guess this is what emefele considered,
and mind you,
it would also cost him his job. So he had no option than to follow.
We all know Buhari's plan since day one is to devalue the Naira, for a reason i don't know yet (maybe na business in do sha). We hope all these gets exposed one day.

Buhari devalue the Naira? If that was so, why did he peg it? He never wanted a depreciation talk less of a devaluation. Sanusi, Utomi and Soludo urged him to revert to the status quo he met, that of a fllexible exchange rate but he bluntly refused.

Cost Emefiele his job, so what? Emefiele most likely sacrificed financially to be CBN governor as his salary in Zenith would have been much larger.

A true professional, especially a principled one, will be hotcake in the job market.

Sanusi has been appointed on the board of MTN. He just got another appointment.

Is Okonji Uweala suffering or Soludo or Ezekwelisi? They are even earning better

well, was just suggesting,
Buhari's was actually advice by foreigners to devalue the Naira, so as to increase export, to attract more buyers.
But what he doesn't know is that Nigeria imports more than they export, so we are really going to be affected,
people here wanted to kick against that, but the man went ahead to do what he did,
now we are in recession.
