I know it secretes red when boiled in water, is referred to as Ewe eje (Blood Tonic) in Yoruba and gives this relaxing vibe when taken

True this.. That's the reason for the confusion in the first place. I've gotten a lot of similar plants here and I'm comparing all to get the correct identification though for now I'm tilting towards it being Justica secunda Vahl.

@OP, next time you want someone to identify a weed for you, take a picture of just one strand (with the roots attached). That bunch you are displaying there looks like 3 weeds: Centrocima pubescens, Cannabis sativa, Calopogonium muconoides.
NB: The spellings may not be correct

I know it's a natural blood tonic. A friend whom I got to know about the leaf from, said she uses the leaf to cook beans and vegetable soup.
