Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has vowed not to return to the National Assembly in 2023.

He made the declaration on Sunday in Enugu during a thanksgiving service to mark his 57th birthday celebration.

Igbere TV recalls that Ekweremadu, who is on his fourth term in the Red Chambers, was reelected for a fifth term during the just concluded 2019 general elections.

Igbere TV reports that the lawmaker who represents the people of Enugu West Senatorial district, said he will no longer seek re-election to the Senate at the expiration of his fifth term.

He said it was time to quit legislative business, adding that his remaining time in NASS would afford him time to complete ongoing projects in his constituency.

He revealed that a new breed politician with shared visions would take over from him at the expiration of the fifth term.

Ekweremadu said that his 16 years sojourn in the National Assembly had been immensely beneficial to his constituents as it had been a harvest of projects.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his support through the various projects being executed in his constituency.

He, however, said that he may have offended some people in the course of his political career, adding that such people should forgive him.

Our correspondent reports that the Enugu born lawmaker with his wife, Mrs Nwanneka Ekweremadu, graced the occasion, which also marks their 25th wedding anniversary.

The way this keeps praising Buhari these days dikwa suspicious.

Na like this e dey take start o! Somebody will defect into oblivion.

He's so pained Atiku didn't pick him. But Atiku had the baggage of being perceived as corrupt. Ekweremadu too has recently been dented by many EFCC allegations. Now Ekweremadu wanted PDP to fly such ticket so that APC will kill it with propaganda.

Las las, he should thank his stars for being the first opposition deputy president of the Senate and the longest serving at that.

And happy retirement in 2023.

It's not too much my brother. Experience is needed at the NASS. Law making requires experience and knowledge. Inexperienced and unenlightened people cannot make laws for the nation. Building a good nation starts from making good laws. Meanwhile, I hate all PDP members and their supporters.
