When we think of monochrome what comes to our minds is black, white and grey, but the Cambridge dictionary says monochrome means using black, white and grey or using only one color.

The word monochrome when broken down into two means Mono = one and Chrome = color, you can also put it this way: A monochromatic outfit should consist of clothing’s of one color.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that when you’re putting on monochrome outfit you put on one color from top to bottom, you can put on different shades of a particular color you’ve chosen to wear and even if you are putting on the same shades you can add a contrasting pop of color in your accessories or shoes, etc.
