Work is said to have started on the dualization of Akwangwa-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe federal highway, which FEC had approved last August for a contract sum of N348 billion.

This is welcome news for the Northeast, where 16 years of PDP misrule left federal roads so battered you wonder if we had a government or even a country. We were richer then, but PDP's idea of progress was the number of Nigerian billionaires who owned private jets. Remember Jonathan telling that to the world at Nairobi Airport?

This government has set records in road construction, railways, and agric and SME loans - all of them vital to economic output. No less important are efforts to untangle the web of PDP's fraudulent power privatization which left us all in darkness.

Yes, this government has its shortcomings, but they pale beside PDP's. Two decades after OBJ's Ministry of African Integration, no tarred road links Adamawa to Cameroon. Two old roads ending at the border became unmotorable under OBJ, and it is PMB rebuilding them now. The projects were approved last year.

So, I can't help but prefer APC, at least for now. I will hail them when they do well and criticize them when they fail. And just to be clear, I'm not a Buharist or of Buhariyya, but just a citizen wanting better governance.
