Six months to November 16 Kogi governorship election, leaders from Okun land of the state have constituted a high powered committee to drive the quest for a candidate from the West.

At a recent meeting at General David Jemibewon’s Iyah Gbede residence, politicians itching to be Deputy Governor were encouraged to look beyond their restricted goal.
Speaking with Kogireports on the outcome of the meeting, Prince Richard Akanmode confirmed the determined effort by leaders from the zone to ensure Kogi West play a leading role in this year’s governorship election.
According to him, the committee was charged to explore options across party lines.

Commenting on the development, a former House of Representatives aspirant, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju said the resolution of great interest to Okun people.
“We cannot continue to play second class as free born of Kogi state. We should rise in unison to achieve this noble goal. Incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello was courageous at the last primaries and his people rally round him. Let us rally round one of our own in November,” he said.

At the last count, there are about forty three governorship aspirants from Kogi East senatorial district while the incumbent is from Kogi Central. No one has declared intention to contest the November 16 election in Kogi West.

However, it is been rumoured that Senator Dino Melaye, former deputy governorship candidate, Hon. James Faleke and the Executive Secretary of Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Prince Babatunde Irukera are itching to join the governorship race.

To me, Dino Melaye, Abiodun Faleke and Tunde Irukera are good to contest.
