In my dear country, even when you are proven to be a failure, you will still want to kill yourself for a second term to reinforce your failure. We should learn from mature democracies.

No fight, no quarrel, no clinging to power. You do not deliver, you honorable resign or get a vote of no confidence from your peers

"resigned" this is a word i hardly hear over here in Nigeria. our incompetent, inefficient and ineffective leaders wont resign no matter what. Ruling is not a do or die affair, if you don't understand how to develop this country as a public office holder, pls step aside, let someone else try.

Even those who know nothing about Brexit are calling her useless. Whoever manages to get them across, the people would come for his head sooner than later, because the EU has decided to make them the perfect Scape goats for anyone thinking to tow the same path. If they are to return to the EU they would be treated as newbies with no seat on the table and if they finally leave, the economic impact would be devastating, companies would leave and British companies would be taxed to death abroad just to name a few. Theresa May knows this and that's why she tried to push for a second referendum undecided

So sad.

As it is now, nobody wishes to be the British Prime Minister. Negotiating Brexit and building consensus in HoC is an uphill task.

These guys should make Jeremy Corbyn the new PM, so that we will see what he can do. It's easier to criticize than lead.

Cameron saw this coming and ran away!

The biggest challenge now remains the Irish backstop.

Britain is at a crossroads as its future is bleak.

Well done, May..

You have done your bit.
Abi.

This resignation is victory for the little people, for the ordinary Britons who voted en-masse to leave the economic cum political Union but got betrayed by their own Prime Minister. Now is the time for a true Brexiteer to take over and implement the people's will. This would be the only way the Conservative party would forestall their impending doom. The people want to take back control of their fishing waters, of the their farms, and of their immigration system from a group of unelected beaurocrats in Brussel.
Brexit is fraud and propaganda.
The young British are not in support to leave Europe

It has been a matter of "when"...

Theresa May has been an insipid leader unlike Margaret Thatcher whose brainpower and force of personality were never in doubt.

We are talking a nation people by thinking minds and not the joke called Nigeria where any simpleton can followership...

When would a Nigerian leader ever resign, even if if its a symbolic gesture. Or for the sake of being the first in history black nation.

She should have sought input from the back benchers and even LP before formally presenting it... Stubborn like the first female PM! She loved her country though and no one is perfect... She has done her part though not good enough.. Adieu Theresa...

Ayodele70:
Theresa May has bowed to intense pressure from her own party and named 7 June as the day she will step aside as Conservative leader, drawing her turbulent three-year premiership to a close.

Speaking in Downing Street, May said it had been “the honour of my life” to serve as Britain’s second female prime minister.

Her voice breaking, she said she would leave “with no ill will, but with enormous and enduring gratitude to have had the opportunity to serve the country I love”.

The prime minister listed a series of what she said were her government’s achievements, including tackling the deficit, reducing unemployment and boosting funding for mental health.

But she admitted: “It is and will alway remain a matter of deep regret to me that I have not been able to deliver Brexit.

May’s announcement came after a meeting with Graham Brady, the chair of the backbench 1922 Committee – which was prepared to trigger a second no-confidence vote in her leadership if she refused to resign.

Her fate was sealed after a 10-point “new Brexit deal”, announced in a speech on Tuesday, infuriated Tory backbenchers and many of her own cabinet – while falling flat with the Labour MPs it was meant to persuade.
