It is unfortunate that Nigeria has failed to learn from how Nnamdi Kanu spread propaganda through Radio Biafra, reigniting divisions across ethnic lines. Now, there is news of a radio station for Fulani herdsmen, and many Nigerians are agitated about this possibility.

So, how did we get here?

Earlier this week, former President Olusegun Obasanjo had accused Fulani herdsmen of promoting an agenda to ‘Fulanise’ Nigeria, but the majority of us scorned him. President Buhari’s men were also quick to lambaste Obasanjo, who they said wants to divide Nigeria. But now, the reality has dawned on us.

It was hard to believe when the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said the Federal Government had acquired an Amplitude Modulation broadcast radio licence for the herdsmen as part of efforts to end perennial farmers-herders’ clashes.
